We debate the merits of attacking fullbacks, who can overlap, assist and score, then promote the idea of signing Djed Spence, whose played 59 premier league games and got 1 assist and 2 goals.
I'm not sure there is another fullback that makes Mykolenko look progressive like this?
You also need to factor in that during those 59 games he's played for probably the most attacking, gung-ho managers ever in Postecoglu and pumped out figures a fullback under Moyes would be ashamed of.

He was very good and highly rated before he joined Spurs

I'd have Spence all day long. He's clearly a good player, he's just had a rough time in a shit team. Shouldn't be anywhere near England at the moment though.

He was absolutely diabolical in the DR Congo game (Garner should have been picked instead but that’s a side issue) and quite how Pickford takes the blame for that goal I don’t know, but I have to give him the benefit of the doubt because he’s not really played in a team that has defensive discipline for a while at least. I think it would be a good signing but for the likely price I’d rather just pay the £40m for Doue especially because he’s nearly 5 years younger and has bags of potential on top of being ready to start. Doue probably doesn’t want to play here though.

People turning their noses up at Spence really need to reflect on watching JOB play there the last 18 months.
It's the equivalent of turning your nose up at a warm Gregg's sausage roll when you normally eat out of the bins, saying you want steak and chips instead.

I don't mind Spence, he's a huge upgrade on what we have. The only issue is that he's so much faster than everyone else, it'll take a good minute for the rest of the team to catch up with him.
He wasn't solely at fault for the Doctor Congo goal either, he was covering two players due to the centre backs and midfield being out of position.

I just think "he's better than what we have" shouldn't be the barometer. Otherwise you end up watching the AWB and Spence of this world for years. There are thousands of footballers in there, let's aim a bit higher than someone can, you know, cross the halfway line.

AWB and Spence would both be good for us. Massive upgrade and would settle in right away.
Im not sure i'm up for taking massive risks with RB at this point in time. Id be made up with either but think Spence will go somewhere a lot better than us.

I just figured he was well better than us based on the spurs / England thing, the pr he’s had last few years etc.
Maybe he is but his numbers are shocking you can’t deny that.
If he’s expensive I’d absolutely hate it personally.

I think he’s costing £30m at the least isn’t he?

I'd give it 6 months tops before both would be getting the Mykolenko treatment, and rightly so. We've had to endure years of his shite, and the club in their wisdom decided to extend our punishment further. Let's not consign ourselves to a comparable right back for 4/5 years

They are a million times better than Mykolenko so that won't happen.
