I think the fact he is not only still here but has been given a new deal and allegedly a payrise signals the fact that Moyes has won whatever power battle may have existed between him and the recruitment team.

Moyes is a strong character, combative, opinionated and quite petulant as we have seen recently in interviews. It would take a strong CEO to assert authority against him, when he can pull rank and evidence all the years he has managed at the top level against other staff, both above and below, who can't really hold a candle to that.

Personally I wouldn't have liked to see Keane in an Everton shirt again if we have any aspirations of progressing but I guess we'll have to get used to seeing it a lot more next season.

Didn’t we renew his previous contract on a much lower wage though, so maybe this was part of the deal, if he performs well/features regularly during this last season he gets a rise?
