Re: Christian Nørgaard
I’m not at all adverse to the signing. He’s a good player and there’s not really a conversation to be had in terms of him versus Tim. Every single transfer we make can’t be buy young with potential. The only issue is Norgaard will give us 2 years with no sell on and in the meantime we haven’t developed somebody to come in and replace him. I suppose I’ll have to accept again that this will take a bit more time and maybe a different manager.Cods wrote: ↑Sat Aug 01, 2026 10:15 pm The average age of the 10 signings (if this goes through) since Moyes took over again, is now 23.
Gana out and Nørgaard in reduces the overall squad age.
If we have Nørgaard Hackney Garner Röhl, and KDH fighting for central spots then we can cope with injury.
It seems pretty evident that Armstrong needs another loan and maybe Charlie will be sold, and Tim, whilst he has some exceptional skills and has shown solid improvement, perhaps isn't good enough overall.
I've no problem with a bit of experience for some of the younger ones to play with, or transition into the team. It provides us the safety in case its too early to blood the younger ones for 40+games, but also the opportunity to keep playing the kids if they do well and can handle it.

Re: Christian Nørgaard
Sounds it could be a fairly decent signing who effectively replaces Gana.
Agree it’s not very inspiring, I guess we are trying to go for safe and low risk signings because…Everton just lack the willingness to be a bit more innovative with signings and doesn’t help the market has been fucked further with some of the crazy prices paid for the likes of Elliot Anderson.

Re: Christian Nørgaard
Yet last year we still had one if the highest average starting 11s, alongside Fulham and Villa. If that doesn't tell people there is a disconnect between the manager and committee then nothing does
Re: Christian Nørgaard
To be fair to the recruitment.. Aznou, Dibling and George is approx. 55mil spent on young talent. Barry was a few years pre peak too, and Hackney similar age.
We've just lost Coleman and Gana from the dressing room. We need reliable starters and experience, looks like we're doing it. I get it.

Re: Christian Nørgaard
In terms of development it's probably better for our young players than signing a 25 year old.Big Nevs Vaz wrote: ↑Sun Aug 02, 2026 7:17 am I’m not at all adverse to the signing. This gives the likes of Armstrong a chance to go out on loan, or show what he can do to displace Norgaard over the next 12 months or so if not.
He also doesn't really play the role any of our younger players play anyway, as most seem box to box, so again shouldn't have a massive impact.
Will it mean less game time for Hackney? Possibly but it's up to him to put in the performances to start over one of Garner or Norgaard.
Re: Christian Nørgaard
Why don’t you just give him a chance before effectively writing him off…..like Andy said you’d be moaning if hull Coventry etc signed him…..
