I do think Rooney ruined it for every other prospect after him.
He spoilt us fans. Now we have no patience with youth. If you're not world class at 16, you're shit and get out of our club.

And now, in today's edition of "things that don't really happen".

Yeah i saw that. They rip into him on their forum constantly. He does only have 1 non penalty goal in the league and only 2 assists
Don't imagine anyone paying much more than we got but who knows

He had more cards than goals for us, we needed money, he wanted out and the fans mainly hated him, the fee we got for him was fine.

Obviously my last sentence was highly inflated.
But look at post Rooney, and the abuse Barkley and Rodwell got. Not look how little patience people have for Dibling and Barry.
Okay, maybe I am drawing parallels that aren't there, and our fans are just fucking moaners with no patience.

Watched Nathan Broadhead last night actually, can remember people saying why did we sell him. Did zilch.
Blown very hot and cold since his move to Wrexham, tho I think he's had a couple of niggles (which always seems to be the case with him). He's at his level though, definitely not a PL player and we were tight to sell obviously. And both things are fine. Yes it's great to find a Rooney or a Gordon, but the real purpose of the academy is to churn out professionals and give us a sustainable (within reason, this is football) business model. Yes, we need to do more and the academy suffered under the previous owners, but young professionals being sold to lower leagues and forging a good career for themselves is a very good thing. We should be proud of that.

I don't think it's just our fans though. It's people in general, and it's a reflection of society. We live in a world where patience is no longer needed. We have everything at a click of a button and instantaneously.
Maybe Evertonians patience levels are thinner than say Liverpool or City because we've been so starved of success, but in general I'd say it's systemic to our way of life these days.
