I don't know what problem Gabriel Jesus solves for us. He's just far too unreliable as a player in terms of fitness and what he brings to the role. A squad sized like ours can't really carry players with consistent issues that hinder their availability. Just look at the headache Branthwaite's issues have caused us of late.

There are rumours too about him linked with Serie A, that feels like it makes a whole lot more sense for a player like him who probably could do well there.

I don’t think Jesus makes sense on any level.

Price, age, availability, tactical fit. All bad.

Kind of rumour you hope is agent-driven. I’d be flapping if we pulled the trigger.

You'd think Jesus would want to play for a club with European football next season - might not get regular starts at Palace with Mateta and JSL, can't imagine he'd fit in at Bournemouth (depends on the new boss of course), so Brighton or a move abroad perhaps more likely?

Them clubs have more sense.

I'm betting playing for a team that gets closest to his 265k a week wage trumps European football by a distance.
Bournemouth highest paid player is on 85k a week, Palace circa 110k, ours is significantly higher.
I don't want him one bit, but we are stupid enough to pay the wages he would want to join, out at least get closest to it

I should add that it’s at least partly because they poach all the best players from around the country and pay them stupid wages at a young age. But still wild how much talent they get their hands on before they’ve played any first team football.

My nephew coaches kids footie in Oklhoma, his under 15 team recently competed at Finch Farm against a couple of other American teams, us, Chelsea and Wrexham in a league,/knock out tournament. I went to watch them and was surprised bar one or two players how average the Blues and Chelsea were at that age. Oklhoma beat them both quite comfortably

How’d they beat them?

Don’t think it’s terribly uncommon for younger American teams to get good results with superior physicality and good enough technique.

That advantage evaporates pretty quickly at the top where players are not only big and fast but clever and first rate technically as well.
