Confident that now he’s part of the squad, Moyes won’t give a shit about that and will commit to getting the best out of him he can.

Perhaps he's seen as a future squad player rather than a starter, that in 2-3 years time we're signing the likes of Yamal, Pedri, Mbappe and re-signing Armstrong, and even he might not be getting much game time!

One can dream.

Might explain the two year contract.

Nah. Scoreline when we’re in Europe next year.

You can choose not to sign him. Also, I don’t know what player would want only a two year contract. You’re leaving guaranteed money in the table in case of an injury.

Shogun wrote: Sat May 31, 2025 2:50 pm If he settles and does well then he'll likely want to stay, don't think we have to worry too much about the length of contract. I doubt he's going to have a Cole Palmer of a 12 months and be sniffing out a title contending team in 12 months.
I don’t think there’s any guarantee that him doing well will mean he will want to stay and sign a new contract.

Two years is an awful length of contract because after 12 months you lose any leverage in negotiation with other teams. Very thankful we have the ability to trigger an option for a third year because otherwise it’s an awful decision to sign him just for 2 years imo.

This is his 5th club at the age of 22.

His agents obviously like moving him about which is common with South Americans

Chain him to the bench unless we’re desperately chasing a goal in the last 20-30.

Talented for sure but an absolute wild card, even when it comes to making basic decisions.
