Jeez, how did you come up with that conclusion based on what I said?

Ran the show against us in Goodison season before last. Solid holding midfielder who can tackle and pick a pass. He’s a good player but it again shows we have a manager who isn’t interested in bringing through young lads and building for the future.

Think he means Barry-esque in the sense of the impact he could have for us.

We haven't really gotten close to replacing Barry since he left but we probably never will in terms of his quality.

I don't mind the signing personally. Don't quite see it as an indication of where the club is as such. We needed a body in after Gueye going and he was a cheap option.

Reckon he will surprise some people.

I think of Sunderland were making this signing a lot on here would be bemoaning us not doing a very sensible solid piece of business.

Surely people don’t think he’s having the same impact as Gareth Barry?

Good player would question his legs though

Nothing wrong with the signing in isolation, but if money really is that tight then we simply can’t compete.

I'm very for this signing, but doubt he'll have anything like that impact.

He'll be a very solid, very reliable player who offers lots of leadership on and off the field. He'll slot in seamlessly and people will quickly see what he can offer

It won't be Barry levels but I think he'll be at least comparable to Gana last year, but I'd wager better, and fans will quickly appreciate him.

Pretty happy with this. No shame in not really being able to break into that Arsenal midfield.

Could do with being a couple of years younger (couldn't we all?) but 2-3 solid seasons from an experienced pro would be decent business for £7m. And would hopefully allow us to invest what little money we do have elsewhere.

The average age of the 10 signings (if this goes through) since Moyes took over again, is now 23.

Gana out and Nørgaard in reduces the overall squad age.

If we have Nørgaard Hackney Garner Röhl, and KDH fighting for central spots then we can cope with injury.

It seems pretty evident that Armstrong needs another loan and maybe Charlie will be sold, and Tim, whilst he has some exceptional skills and has shown solid improvement, perhaps isn't good enough overall.

I've no problem with a bit of experience for some of the younger ones to play with, or transition into the team. It provides us the safety in case its too early to blood the younger ones for 40+games, but also the opportunity to keep playing the kids if they do well and can handle it.

We won't be competing with Arsenal for players in a few years either. It'll never happen. Different level club. Biggest in North London, where the capital is a big pull for players. Everton, 4th largest club in the North West. That is the reality.

What we should be doing is identifying talent through markets across the globe, how the likes of Bournemouth and Brighton are doing.

We're just not very good, sadly that's where the lesser clubs get it right, build quickly and elevate us.

It was only a passing comment on him being older but a low cost transfer ...

I think Mr Barry surprised everyone with how good he was for us, maybe lightning stikes twice.
