He’s finding his level being a versatile squad player.

Moyes can big him up as much as he wants but he knows deep down if he was that good a midfielder he wouldn’t take him out of there.

I thought Tim made a massive difference at the weekend being able to take it in tight spaces and progressing up the pitch.

Garner made a massive difference at right back as well to be fair to him but he’s going to have to get used to playing there.

He’s like a slightly more handsome Harper.

I don't think Tim didn't anything better than Garner has been doing this season , admittedly they're slightly different players but I'd argue Garners CM influence over the games >Tims

Good thing is Tim isn't being talked about as a write off now. He is gradually proving his worth to the squad and along with Rohl we have several young players competing for the spot(s), which is needed, given Gana's age.

He’ll be back in the centre next game. We all know it.

The more I watch Nunes at City at RB, the more I like Garner at RB.

I am not saying they are at the same level. But players can be formed into certain positions and make them their own. Garner is defensively solid, has a good pass / cross and is a workhorse. All good traits for a full back.

I think he may find himself playing there quite a bit this season.

If he gave the same love and encouragement to Beto I’d agree with you, but Moyes has his favourites, we know who they are, and he will always play them.

Moyes also knows Garner won't be particularly happy about playing RB so bigging him up for the England squad will at least curry favour for putting in more shifts at RB

i dunno, I think playing right back is quite a glamorous position. Get to do a lot of attacking and getting assists.

In his logic Garner is a Phil Neville re-gen, and he got 59 caps.

And if Henderson and Loftus-Cheek are around the squad, then a 'bang average in multiple positions' James Garner probably isn't that far away from a random nations league call up.

Leave garner right back but stop the substitution that sees him back into midfield and Jake right back

We definitely played more attacking due to Tim being in there instead of Garner. Tim didn’t necessarily do anything amazing but his willingness to drive forward makes a difference

Likewise Garner being more comfortable on the ball and with better delivery than O’Brien made a difference on that right hand side

Tim fluffed his chance to open the scoring just before Gana did, but how often when playing centre mid do you see James Garner ready to get on the end of a loose ball in the box?

We have missed this massively with Doucoure gone

To give James Garner a back handed compliment if we could clone him he would be starting at both right back and left back at the moment , a 3rd clone of him would be on the subs bench as a back up centre mid behind Gana, Rohl and Tim

He would be my starting right back until we sign a new one

Probably will, given the opposition.

When we can rely on our midfield a bit more he might feature at RB more regularly,... unless we sign one!

Some need tough love and some need the arm around them though. I reckon Beto needs pressure on him to perform given, he's the against all odds footballer. (<--Insert quotation marks there)
