He's a solid if unspectacular PL left back, he's far better than lower half Championship, that's why it's nonesense.
Your own post was hardly a ringing endorsement. He’s so limited. If you’re happy enough to have another season with neither full backs offering a single thing going forward then fine but it’s completely choking Ndiaye and he offered Grealish the square root of fuck all the first half of the season too. I have enough of this shite at full back on both sides. It can’t be asking too much for an upgrade from this mediocrity.

I like him, but yeah, he's not spectacular but there's a happy medium, to say he's lower Championship level player is nonsense. I think the Ndiaye point is another debate but I'm not sure Mykolenko is his is issue.

Arsenal - Calafiori
Man City - O'Reilly
Man United - Shaw
Villa - Digne
Liverpool - Kerkez
Bournemouth - Truffert
Brighton - De Cuyper
Chelsea - Cucurella
Brentford - Lewis-Potter
Sunderland - Mukiele
Newcastle - Hall
Fulham - Robinson
Leeds - Justin (LWB)
Palace - Mitchell
Forest - Williams
Spurs - Udogie
West Ham - Diouf
Burnley - Pires
Wolves - Wolfe
Looking at that list, he's maybe the 18th best starting LB in the Premier League currently.

How is it nonsense chief?
Oh come on. There's 12 teams with better left backs in the championship? Its beyond silly
Hes a bit bland but he's an olay premier league player.

I think he would struggle to get into a lot of Championship teams but maybe I’m miles off….i don’t dislike him, he’s honest and he’s never not tried for us. It’s all about ability or lack of. It’s too important a position to accept that he’s going to be as good as it gets for another season.

He’s not bad 1v1 etc etc etc. but when the ball is getting pinged about he’s more often than not in no man’s land

Apart from Branthwaite was the last defender we bought that could actually pass as a proper premier league defender Digne?

I absolutely cannot stand watching him, and can’t believe Moyes is having him.

I don’t think he is an ok premier league player. He completely restricts what we can do as an attacking force and his defensive qualities are overstated. I’d rather have Leif Davis or Josh Tymon in the team. Ryan Manning is a better player than him.

Let's be honest it's a disgrace he's been given a contract that long. A year extension to his current one on the proviso that he's back up should have been the best it's gets.
Already can't be arsed with next season. Myko and JOB will both be fullbacks again I bet.
A year extension doesn't protect our investment though - we can't afford to let him leave for free. I really can't be arsed watching him for the next 3-years either, but the economics make sense- even if the football doesn't.

Don’t think he’s as bad as some on here make out, he’s no Baines or Digne like but he’s ok - for now. The contract allows us to maybe keep him next season and use our spare cash elsewhere. If we look at improving next year we could look to sell him on while he’s still got 2 years left on his contract. We can’t improve the whole squad in one summer

It's baffling to me that anyone can even think he is ok.
He is a massive issue in the team.
Positionally terrible. Defending is very average on the whole, gets caught out time after time.
But the attacking side. My fucking god.
It's embarrassing. When we push past the half way line it's as if we have ten men.
Slows everything down to a halt, won't offer himself to players, first thought is to pass backwards. It's just really fucking bad

We’re paying him a decent wage I imagine, and it’s hard to see any team paying half decent money for him, so we’re out of pocket for the next three years.

All very doom and gloom isn't it?
Weirdly we all would say Moyes bought really well overall here last time, so I dunno, maybe there's some hope we might actually build a decent squad again?
Really well is a massive overstatement. He bought some players on deals that turned out to be greats, but he also had a lot of misses. The world has also moved on massively. Whereas his massive wall of players for each position to target was novel 20 years ago, its miles below base level now.
How badly he spent at Sunderland[Buying loads of our old shite] and West Ham should set alarm bells ringing.
