Great games the last couple. Didn't realise initially how much better as I'd missed some.
Doesn't do the shiny stuff in the game, but the ball winning, slight changes of pace to burst past players, body work on protecting the ball, body shape receiving it, improving with his passing (except for a few noticeable errors). Really happy for him on this trajectory.

There'll also be games where he's as shit as he was against Newcastle.
But he's learning. We've all got to learn/remember that form =/= class, doubly so for young players

Definitely.
Unless Moyes' transfer budget this January is dependent on making Europe, we can build slowly and use these young players more regularly (we might have to) if they can perform to a decent enough level. If we're winning every now and again the groans should be minimal.

The most important thing is the trajectory, which is upwards and getting better. That’s all you can ever ask for with players, especially youngsters. It shows he is developing in training and getting valuable matchday experience.
I do think Garners rise and influence has massively helped as well. Having someone alongside you that is in great form gives you a confidence boost.

Watched extended highlights a couple of times since the match and he definitely used the ball better than I knew he could on at least a couple of occasions.
Won the ball, turned in a tight space, dribbled forward and slotted a pass in to someone in an advanced position to run on to it.
Probably did him a disservice a few posts back about him being a 'pass simply to someone else' type player as he did progressive passes and executed them well in the Forest game.
I think the biggest challenge is can he do it when we have more of the ball? The Forest match was playing to his strengths, but when he has more time to think can he still make those passes?
If so we've got a real player on our hands!

His passing definitely could be improved, but the ball carrying shows up as decent.
If he improves his use of the ball then wow.
If he doesn’t, but continues his great work off the ball and carrying it up the pitch then he can still be a very good player.
I’am wary of thinking he’s turned the corner and will be a very good player for us now, but it is kind of all there at the moment.
It’s not like he’s suddenly started to show this. He had it last season but struggled doing it over 90 minutes and was all over the place positionally.
If that part of his game is now locked in and he can show it over a longer period then I think we have something potentially great.

Yeah if he starts finding a pass at the end of those runs, or he starts spraying balls from deep it would be huuuuge.
Personally pleased if he just keeps up the ball winning and carries. That's all Baleba does and he's going to go for £100m+.

Love his strength and ball carrying ability.
As others have said, improve that passing and we're looking at a top midfielder.

Thought he was pretty dreadful there. Definitely got some good attributes but is he actually good at the football bit? Not at the moment.

He’s just very unpredictable in how he’s going to play game on game or even what he’s going to do when he gets the ball. Hard to build around that but he still very much has a value in this squad.

Think the problem is he wants to play in tight spaces. He wants to dribble out of dangerous areas, he wants to invite contact, he wants to take time on the ball and draw players to him. When he plays well its great when it doesn't work he coughs up possession in really bad areas
Think there's plenty to like about him but he probably needs to learn in a more settled more experienced side. We arent giving the individuals a chance because we are playing them all at once. They all seem to need situations we are incapable of providing. Think in an ideal world we'd have quite a few out on loan. We need them all though
