Jarrad Branthwaite
Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
This fucking PSR. We're still paying for mistakes from years ago but these can just throw away the best part of £200m on Sancho & Antony, pay the obscene wages of Varane & Casemiro and make next to no sales and yet we're the ones who need to sell before the end of June whilst they can spend another £70m.
"Fair". It's absolute bullshit.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Would have liked to have kept him one more season but it was always gonna be difficult.
More gutted for him really that he's going to United.
Honestly think he will just stall there myself.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
It is what it is, better than him going to Liverpool.
Whatever we get (hopefully a bit more than £70m) it's all PSR profit and keeps the wolves from the door. We can't get too emotional or sentimental about players like this leaving for enormous fees to progress their careers.
He's been great, I think he can make the step up, but it's not guaranteed, and even £70m is a whopping fee for a guy with only one full season at the top level (plus some time in Holland on loan).
Just hope it all gets done quickly so we can move on and start looking ahead.

Still think United is an absolutely terrible move for him like.
Wouldn't be too happy if the French lad from Burnley is his replacement either to be honest.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Must be the only club who might be willing to meet our valuation, which is a shame.
I'm sure he'll back himself to develop there and be a big player for them, but so have plenty of other young players who are now in the doldrums.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Is shite isn't it. No matter how long they're shit for, no matter how many wrong turns they make, they can just go and buy our best young player and go again. And why wouldn't they.Shogun wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 8:35 pm This fucking PSR. Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
I hope we stand our ground and make sure they pay the money though. This is a club who have been rinsed senseless by loads of other clubs. The Maguire fee. They could've signed Antony for £40m and ending up buying him for £86m when they got desperate
Maguire went from Leicester for £80m in 2019. I don't want to see any £50m with addons bollocks.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
The problem is we can't stand our ground.
We probably need a £40m-£50M PSR profit prior to June 30. We have no room to out-maneuvre anyone.
We need either him or Onana gone by June 30.
Only other option would likely be selling a group of players which just isn't realistic prior to June 30 (and never was).
It sucks, the rules are bullshit and we are stuck trying to abide by them.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Depends who caves first, doesn't it? Risky obviously but if there's an indication we simply won't sell (as boneheaded as that would be) then they know their chances of getting Branthwaite for £70m after June is none-existent.Cantoffee wrote: ↑Thu Jun 13, 2024 9:43 pm The problem is we can't stand our ground.

Re: Jarrad Branthwaite
Was really hoping Real would come in for him. Utd, man. What a horrible career choice for the lad.
