He’s in contention for a World Cup spot in the America’s next year. He needs minutes to prove himself.

And they’ve already rejected it - no way he leaves on loan without signing a new contract first

Swerve Mainoo, as much positional sense as PSR Tim
There’s a vid doing the rounds currently, dispelling the myth that he can’t hold in a double pivot. Funnily enough - at Goodison last season.

To be fair if the main proof of his ability as a midfielder is his ability to win the midfield battle vs Dyche’s Everton then I’d take it with a pinch of salt!

He can play DM as well.
Got all the attributes for it.
Watched a really good tactical analysis of him and Rice as a 6 for England Vs other players more suited to it and it showed really well he's not very good at just sitting.
Maybe he has the attributes but he doesn't really play that role well, which would make loaning him pretty pointless when we have multiple other players for the box to box role.

Watching a video on something doesn’t make you right and others wrong btw.

No but it went in to heat maps, FBref data etc so was actually very insightful.
Adam Clearly is great at doing these and whilst it's just one person's opinion he does back everything up with proper statistical data. So I tend to place a fair bit of trust in what he's saying.
Especially when it was directly comparing players asked to play as a 6 who aren't great there Vs players who are naturally suited to the role.

Yeah Cleary is decent enough.
And I've never trusted Ram's opinions since he said we'd be absolutely fine under Benitez

It’ll never happen but I don’t see how we could turn Mainoo down. He’d be the long term successor to Gana but with a much higher ceiling and we could sort the proper DM out next summer and just cope with it for a season. Short term not great but as a long term strategy we’d be fools not to do it. Wages a slight issue though obviously.
RB and DM still essential but we really need to pad the squad out a bit with some youngsters on loan with options to buy and experienced frees. Still lots to do imo.
Another RW with loads of pace, a striker, another CM, and a CB in an ideal world.

We are a bit small in the middle of the park, so he does bring one thing we need to be fair, what with him being massive.
Not sure that's enough mind.

In this mornings presser Moyes mentioned stature being important when asked about incomings. Hopefully 2 + 2 = not effing Soucek .

Because the next guy might want to play him when Amorim gets the boot in a few weeks…
