Any one UK based watching the USA game?
Nope , , maybe am getting old ,it was 32 years ago ,
But it's a bit underwhelming for me atm , these kickoff times can't remember them being so bad in 94...
But England hadn't qualified so maybe the KO were shite too.......
Back then though even Mexico 86 , as lads we must of watched every game....
What's the feeling like in the UK? I'm back in the Netherlands, and aside from one Dutch flag hanging from an apartment, and a couple of posters hung up in pub windows, you wouldn't know that the World Cup was on.

Hard to tell who is excited about the world cup and who wants to stop the boats ...
In the US it's still pretty low key. I think once the NBA finals are done and the World Cup gets into the knockout phase it'll start to pick up, particularly if the US look like they're really competitive.
Been some good games, the opener was actually probably the worst one so far but Qatar vs Switzerland might top that? Maybe they'll be more attacking than I'm assuming though..?
Just a real shame about the prices. Part of the fun of these tournaments is going if it's near to you and I actually wouldn't mind going to see Haiti vs Scotland for example but no way I'm paying 1k+ for a couple of tickets, that's just insane. Euro 96 feels like a while ago now, but I remember being easily able to get in and watch games and paying for it as a kid. I still feel these sort of events should be like low ish double digit sort of costs per ticket, it should be about the celebration of it and getting people into the game.

Ah but the ticket prices aren't putting anyone off,.at least according to Trump anyway
Apparently we've never seen ticket sales at this level before, it's the most successful world cup ever in terms of how many and how quickly the tickets have sold.
Not even a joke, he genuinely said this the other day.

If you can wait until last minute you might be able to snap up something at a reasonable price, right now I'm looking at prices for Qatar vs Switzerland near me and there's tickets for around $300 and that's 4 hours before the game. I expect if those remain unsold to fall to $200 by an hour before start. Unfortunately, I'm not that keen on Qatar vs Switzerland.

He could be right, but even if he is he won't be taking into account, or more likely doesn't even know that it's an expanded world cup so it stands to reason they'll sell more tickets. It's a bit like making the Premier League a 30 team league and claiming they've sold more tickets than ever before. Tickets sold against seats available would be a better comparison and judging by the empty seats so far, it's not the big success he thinks it is.

Never been less interested in a World Cup in my entire life, Infantino, Trump, border control and pricing of everything associated with a game has sucked all the joy out of this event, should never have held in such a fascist state.
