I'm just glad it's over. I thought it was a poor world cup in a complete mess of a country. Think all that nonsense in the final from the self-indulgent Tom Cruise speech, the over the top Buffer brothers before and throughout the match making announcements, the shocking half-time show which was 30 minutes long, the game being turned into quarters and even in the end Trump making it about him summed it all up.

It's been one big tournament of showcasing America's "We'll do what we want" attitude and I can't wait to get back to actual football now rather than whatever this big charade was.

Mexico and Canada innocent though.

Why wasn't Carney and Sheinbaum there with Dumdum?

You wouldn't really know they also hosted the WC.

Didn't watch any of the acts and muted the sound...

But the booing when that thing entered the pitch was sooo loud. Sweet music to my ears and the best act of them all!

Mark Carney was definitely there. Just chose not to make a complete spectacle.of himself, unlike the orange bellend. No idea whether Sheinbaum was there though.

Things I liked about this World Cup

- More teams competing including a number of debutants - Cape Verde in particular.
- Scotland participating after being absent for so long and enjoying the atmosphere back home as well as hearing about the atmosphere in Boston.
- Spain were definitely the worthy winners of the tournament and I look forward to seeing if they can continue to dominate with the young talented group especially from Barcelona’s academy.

Things I didn’t like:

- The treatment and hostility towards the Iranian team (they did very well to get results in all their games though)
- Scotland team being crap and uninspiring, I guess they are not supposed to get passed the group stage of any tournament.
- The politics and Trump - the Balogun suspension, the photo shoot of Spain lifting the trophy, the Somalian referee barred from entering.
- Argentina getting to the final, I’ve never seen such unworthy finalists in a World Cup, they really were pathetic and the final game was such a bland affair.
- Lack of match upsets and underdogs triumphing - ok there were a few like Paraguay beating Germany but even Capw Verde didn’t actually win a single game. I kind of wish there wasn’t a strict seeding system - it’s nice when you’ve got a surprise team that makes it very far.
- Most of the games being so late at night - I probably watched less games than even the last World Cup tournament.
- The Americanisation of the match day experience including the quarters veiled as hydration breaks and the half time show at the final - I thought the BBC said they wouldn’t show this?

Overall, not a great or enjoyable World Cup, hopefully the next one is better.

Funny in retrospect that he went down clutching the wrong leg. Given the fouls they didn't give for far more contact though, it's daft to give this one. It seemed the theme of the World Cup though, let things go unless there is a goal in which case let's use a different standard and pull shit back for minimal contact.

I think Sheinbaum was standing next to Trump when presenting the player medals and Carney was next to her.

I'd be in tears too if I sent my team out to play like that in the biggest games of their lives.

Didn't realise he once played for West Ham - in the 2006 FA Cup Final too, at right back

Still looks in good shape to play, who needs a right back?

Club management beckons...

They can hire Mitch McConnell’s AI guy to fix the photo.
