Yeah shouldn't be any calls for him starting but in games where we need some energy and physicality off the bench he's a good option.

He's absolutely hot steaming garbage and I'd be ready to chuck the towel in if he began starting games for us.

Starts for me.

Better than garner.

I love the cadence of the last 3 posts in this thread.

Our central midfield is a merry-go-round of turd.

He's not and it's another classic example of player comes on after 75 mins against tired opponents and looks half decent.

He's a liability when starting games, but using him as we are I think is a good way to develop him and see if we can actualise his potential as he's got 'something' about him. How much it's hard to know, but at present he shouldn't be anywhere near starting games.

Honestly don't think you can drop him considering the work he's been getting through off the ball.

Garner shitting out of every tackle and passing the ball sideways or back. But runs around a lot.

Now that post is justified.

Better in the tackle than garner, and progresses us up the pitch a lot better as well.

I’d start him if he’s not going to play the big German.

I’m done with James garner playing midfield for us.

Torn between wanting to slag Garner and not wanting to support Tim uhghh.

Think he might be one of those players who's just destined to show a little bit here and there.

Garner - off the ball I think he has actually been really busy this year. Cardinal sin but...has been better than Gana. In possession though he's just not good enough and never will be. Useful squad player but we need more quality and athleticism in that midfield asap.

We need some physicality to stop teams walking through our midfield. I would have Tim now, but be hoping Merlin will eventually take his place.

Been saying it for a while, Garner can play Gana's game, ok not the type of elite numbers Gana put up, but his legs look like theyre fading now.

Get Rohl in there with Garner and thats our best pairing, with Tim off the bench if we need to push for a goal.

I am concerned that Röhl is carrying the weight of everyone's midfield hopes on his shoulders.

I absolutely want him to succeed, more than most perhaps, but crikey, I dont want to be around here if he travels just under the radar or loses the ball, or makes other mistakes.
