Hard to be just decent and start multiple seasons at CB for Moyes. Central defense was a consistent strength for all of his teams.

Lucas Neill is actually the perfect shout for a Moyes era CB.

Showed up past his best to help deal with an injury crisis and did a job.

I remember the Sylvain "Dustbin" shouts.

Thought he was OK myself

It depends if "solid" is read like a synonym for "decent" - or an upgrade.

I always thought Distin was solid, just limited. Always the backline player I thought we would/should upgrade if we had the money to do so.

They weren’t great but they weren’t awful, they did a job. If I recall we even made a profit selling Gibson and Cleverly and obviously Rodwell, we sold him at the perfect time.
