Being funded by the Saudis. No doubt they'll make it a tournament every 2 years alternating with Saudi/Qatar at some point soon.

Yeah, boycott. It's time to stand up ffs. Players have the power here. If everyone/the majority say no, then something will change.

Can already hear the “football doesn’t get involved in politics” waffle that will be trotted out whenever a boycott gets mentioned

I don't see anyone boycotting it, not after Russian then Qatar. USA, Canada and Mexico will probably be seen quite positively compared to them, especially with Saudi coming up.

The Garys etc will no doubt have something to say but happily take the $$$s if anyone offers them some to go and pundit or commentate on it.

I think much of the problem is that it means very little to the winners in terms of status and really that can't ever change

PSG we're crowned champions of Europe what 2 maybe 3 weeks ago. That tends to come with the assumption that they are the worlds best team. A month later you can't crown a world champion which will almost certainly be European and probably not PSG. The idea of it just makes no sense

Also, regarding the attendance, the PSG vs Atheltico match at the Rose Bowl did have 80000 attendance.

Nah fuck em, if they had a pair of balls they'd have said jog on we're not playing in that. I was hoping for a PL team involved in it to be our first game cos they'll be goosed
