We haven’t had a competent right back since the last time Seamus Coleman was physically up to the PL.

Put someone who defends well 1v1, takes up the right positions off the ball, and makes the right runs for his teammates in there and he’ll look like prime Cafu to us even if he’s a bit shit with the ball at his feet.

Worth noting that Seamus, who I love and respect immensely, was a bit crap at actually kicking the ball but made up for it with relentless energy and taking up the right positions at both ends of the pitch. Don’t think AWB is massively off that level. He’s not picking out pinpoint crosses like Baines but we don’t even need that to upgrade.

We can do better than AWB, yeah, but I don’t think he’s as poor a choice as it feels.

Starting to worry as it is becoming clear the level of business we need to do is not matching the level of capability or ambition

Don’t get much bigger than that, I’ll be quite happy with several slightly smaller signings and a nice fancy cherry (Jack) on the cake.

Yeah, he is to be fair. I meant more that we’ll be linked with a billion players, but the most exciting signing will be one we already know is going to happen.

Isn't that the case most summers now once the PL money comes through combined with the financial year.?

Either way, I have no confidence in Kinnear/recruitment/Moyes that they'll deliver what we need.
