They’re all doing it mate.
No you're right.

Re: The Rebuild
Where are you getting the narrative that Grealish is a vanity project for the owner.brap[emoji638] wrote:Window as it is - failure, with potentially huge red flags for our future.

]]k vanity project for the owner? No problem
One right sided player at all in the entire squad? No capisce.
Moyes seems very keen and is the one who convinced him, plus I don’t believe our owners know or care enough about football to want a specific player

Re: The Rebuild
There was an interview with Simon Stone last week, who said that Moyes had told him when they were in the US that it was the owners pushing for Grealish and his priority was another striker.
He didn't say that Moyes didn't want him, but that it was something the owners wanted done as their priority, not his.

On one hand, i have no reason to think this guy would outright lie.
On the other, it seems to stretch belief a bit to think Moyes is naïve enough to be bad mouthing the owners/putting doubt into the aether around his willingness to bring in a targeted player that he has definitely had sign-off towards
Re: The Rebuild
Fully believe Grealish was pushed by the board and moyes is just going along with it happy to be able to coach a player like that.

Re: The Rebuild
I wouldn't perhaps agree that Grealish is a vanity project but his natural position on the pitch is already covered.
So far the window is an abject failure. 2 starters out of the signings so far and still having no right winger is just laughably bad.

Re: The Rebuild
Sounds from the presser he doesn’t see rb as the biggest issue in the squad said we have options at rb in the squad
Re: The Rebuild
With absolutely no right hand side, and the continued absence of a reliable RB, this window has so far got to be judged as a failure.
Obviously it's not for the lack of trying, but it has been poorly approached and executed.

Yeah any window that leaves the manager short in his squad is a failure of some degree.Lazarou II wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 12:44 pm I wouldn't perhaps agree that Grealish is a vanity project but his natural position on the pitch is already covered.

Any window that leaves the manager short in the first level is a drastic failure.
For me Grealish has put pressure on Moyes and the recruitment team. If you want a headline fine, but you have to deliver now.

I'm sure Simon Stone has embellished somewhat for the attention.superpull wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 12:34 pm See, i'm in two minds.

I'd imagine that Moyes is happy with Grealish but was likely trying to get across that he wanted the effort put into more pressing concerns first.

I feel they have to pull the Dibling deal off now.
Otherwise it’s a massive failure.

If we are near the bottom five come November it’s been a drastic failure, if we are nearer to the top five than the bottom five it has not been.brap2 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 12:57 pm Yeah any window that leaves the manager short in his squad is a failure of some degree.

Re: The Rebuild
Yeah the Toffee TV lads have said they were talking to Moyes throughout the US tour, and that he wanted to get Grealish in all summer.
To me it's a situation where it's not the priority signing, but it's also an opportunity that's too good to miss, so you get it done and still work on other targets.
