I didn't think we were actually in for him is all. The only news on the subject seemed to have come from his agent. (happy to admit i may have missed something though)777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Tue Aug 05, 2025 2:32 pm Still think we might sign him. He's waiting for a better offer but that has materialised so far

Re: The Rebuild
Oh I might have misunderstood the story then. Thought we'd bid and he'd kind of left us unanswered hoping for better
Re: The Rebuild
I have a completely unsubstantiated feeling that we are waiting for right before deadline day to make a hard push for Grealish.
And it’s the right tactic. You’d rather have him now but it only makes sense to push when their desperation is at its max level. We can’t afford him without City subsidizing heavily.

Re: The Rebuild
Also, instead of Dibling sounds like nonsense.
We need a natural right winger and as talented as Grealish is, he basically has not played on the right. WhoScored has him doing it once in 2018-19 for Villa and their records span his first team career.

Re: The Rebuild
Was listening to people talking about Fulham and their lack of activity. The general consensus was they had to wait for the "big boys" to finalise their deals so they knew who was available to jettison from the squad to the likes of Fulham.kramer wrote: ↑Tue Aug 05, 2025 2:51 pm I have a completely unsubstantiated feeling that we are waiting for right before deadline day to make a hard push for Grealish.

We're in the same boat to an extent - except we had a much more pressing and urgent need to bring warm bodies in sooner.
I think Moyes wanted a squad built by now with room to pick up 2 or 3 in the last few days of the Grealish tyope.

Yeah, that’s where we are in the pecking order.superpull wrote: ↑Tue Aug 05, 2025 2:58 pm Was listening to people talking about Fulham and their lack of activity. Would certainly be nice to be negotiating from a steadier starting point like Fulham. Next summer (hopefully).

I think we've also got to factor in that he might have heard the rumours that we are interested but nothing more than that.

Re: The Rebuild
In the same fashion that I don't think Grealish is an ideal fit for Everton, I kind of feel the same about Luiz.
Now that we have KDH, I'd be looking at younger, creative, permanent options. We've solidified the base, for sure. And I think I'd still keep one of Our Tim/Harrison around. Maybe 6 month loans for each (ie, they split one "place" in the squad)?

Feels like a lot of money for a Spanish Second division player? That being said, I know nothing about him.
