Guehi could miss Norway game with hamstring injury

England defender Marc Guehi is managing a slight hamstring injury and could miss the World Cup quarter-final against Norway.

Guehi complained of a muscle issue following England's win over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium.

Initially it was hoped that the defender was carrying muscular fatigue and that he would be fit for the game against Norway on Saturday.

But it is understood the Manchester City centre-back has a hamstring strain.

It now remains to be seen whether Guehi can train with the squad on Friday.

If he cannot, then there will be major doubt over his inclusion against Norway.

The issue is not viewed as serious, but with seven-goal Erling Haaland to cope with, England head coach Thomas Tuchel can hardly afford to take fitness risks with defenders.

England midfielder Declan Rice is understood to have missed a second successive day of training because of a sickness bug.

Rice has been suffering with a neural issue, affecting his hamstring and lower back, and it has been exacerbated by illness.

England have taken steps to ensure the bug does not spread.

In better news for Tuchel, first-choice right-back Reece James has returned to full training for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in the goalless draw with Ghana.

The right-back did not complete the entire session, but James is expected to be available to face Norway this weekend providing he feels no ill effects from Thursday's session.

Tuchel and his staff will need to decide whether James is fit to start or if he should feature among the substitutes.
Arise…Sir Dan Burn.

Because Donald said he didn't injure the Mexican badly enough.

Not according to the stats, apparently Haaland has only scored 1 goal in 8 games against Burn to date :o

Sort of could get in to big Dan Burn against Haaland tbh, I could see our CBs getting dominated by him and Burn certainly isn't one to be bested by a big physical striker.

Right now if the option was Stones or Burn to partner Konsa I'd be more in the Burn camp than the Stones one.

You’re probably right brute strength wise but Haaland will murder him with his movement.

Also, on the Quansah tackle, am I the only person who thinks it was harsh?

Was it a red? Yes. But he had the slightest of misjudgments and bounced upwards after landing on the ball and that’s what made the contact with the Mexico player so bad.

So a bad contact, sure, but almost zero intent. So I can’t get on with people saying he was stupid and reckless.

Yeah that's been bothering me too... If his foot doesn't go over the ball he doesn't catch him high up, the ball prevented his foot from taking its natural downward movement.

He didn't just randomly nail him halfway up his shin, there was a big slice of misfortune in what ended up happening.

Tielemans injured in the warm up.

Courtois could have done with shorter arms there.

Normally, I’m against a juggernaut like France but Spain look the most likely challengers and the thought of Cucurella winning a World Cup makes me sick.

And Belgium score right on cue. Maybe not?

France’s to lose.
