Delap release clause not as much as first thought

I like the look of him, injury is the main issue and recovery from that. So depends if he's actually getting over those. His stats in the previous season were good:

Fair enough, doesn't look too bad there.
Injuries maybe a concern though.

Crying shame the impact Brapster has had on this place. Bring back the 4 minute YouTube compilations when we're linked to a player.

Yeah, a big part of playing for a team like us that likely won't have a massive squad is just being reliable.
That's one for the medical team though.

They do say the best ability is availability.

I'm more interested at that price than £40m. Seems more reasonable with the potential to turn a profit if he was a success.

Well if it's a choice between £30 or £40m on a 22 year old Liam Delap, who has real potential and resale value or signing an almost 40 year old Albert fucking Steptoe on a free from Leicester on a free, I know which one I'm choosing. Jamie fucking Vardy can get to fuck and take his fucking grass bird with him.

He's been returned by loan clubs each time. Nobody mentions his wages as a reason, which suggests it's him. Also, apparently his dream is to return to Dortmund

Was just going to mention the release clause on Delap is £30 Million as reported by Sky Sports this afternoon. Does that change views on him?

Think it depends how much we have to spend. Would ideally like us to buy someone for a bit less but if it meant not seeing Beto up there I think I could just about stomach it.

For context with spending less Wolves are signing Strand Larson on a permanent deal for £23m. 1 goal less than Delap in 1 less game. 25 Vs 22 but scored 13 the previous season for Celta Vigo.
Not saying we should try hijack the deal, just that's there's value to be had if you look for it, whereas Delap would have to be a guaranteed success as that's why we'd be paying the higher fee for someone.

City will probably buy him back then use him in a deal for one of their own targets

Delap will probably end up moving and then not playing. At 30m he's pretty much risk free for a club he's not good enough to play for. He'll sign for Chelsea struggle and go for more next season regardless
