Re: David Moyes
Of course but its the same nonsense as it being progress because we were never under threat this season. The truth is weve done 3 seasons with very similar totals and very similar positions (without deductions) we arent closer or further away from anything, we are stagnantGash wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 1:09 pm It's a bit a none argument though, West Ham had 14 more points in 18th than Leicester the year before and 13 more than Luton the year before that, it's a huge total to go down with these days. Looking back, Birmingham in 2010/11 were the last team to go down with that high a total, the last few years, high 20s to low 30s would keep you up.

Re: David Moyes
What about the context that we spent the 12th highest amount last summer? So 11 teams improved more than us. Or do we just expect everyone else to stay the same
Re: David Moyes
So have we:
Stood still because we got almost the same amount of points as last season?
Gone backwards because we were only 9 points clear of relegation Vs 23 the year before?
Or improved because we were only 4 points off 8th this season Vs 23 last season?

Re: David Moyes
So we were more successful previously spending even less and doing equally well. We actually were much better last season under moyesCereal Killer wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 2:20 pm What about the context that we spent the 12th highest amount last summer? Re: David Moyes
Weve stood still while wasting money. The never in danger, closer to relegation arguments are just nonsense really
Though we were actually much better last season under moyes. As a whole though the last 3 years have been same points and same positions. We are very bland

I know you think that, mainly because you've posted it about 40 times in as many hours.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 3:26 pm Weve stood still while wasting money. The never in danger, closer to relegation arguments are just nonsense really

My point wasn't really to ask the question, more to show that people focussing on one aspect to create an argument is flawed because we can literally make 3 completely different arguments depending on which we want to focus on.
People keep arguing these definitive statements ignoring all context or other sides to it, as you've just demonstrated.
Truth is all are correct and none are correct at the same time, depending on if you want to ignore the rest because they don't suit the argument.
Re: David Moyes
I would venture to say that were it not for Grealish and Branthwaites injuries plus the two blatant denials of penalties we would have been at least six points better off and we’d be looking forward to a European adventure with very few people screaming for Moyes head.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 2:32 pm So have we:

I actually dont think there is any context to the argument in the middle that we are just plodding on at the same level. Lest not any that suggests we arent.
Sure its so much better than what moyes came in to but then its so much worse than what he did last season. Its the same as what dyche produced the season before under much harder circumstances
I struggle to see the progress least not unless we are just going to cut the bits of the season out we didnt like.
We didnt do well in the market, we did poorly in the cups and maybe we were par in the league. Im not happily unsatisfied who whatever it was we were meant to be
Our new start was more of the same on and off the pitch and I think we probably do no better next season either
Re: David Moyes
10 actually, and of course it is. So 10 points off and nowhere relegation at any point in the season but only 4 off qualifying for europe. Last season we were 17 points off qualifying for europe. So why not try and take a little bit of positivity? Just for once?

Re: David Moyes
Ultimately we got very similar points but the make up of the league made us closer to the top and bottom and never im danger because we won our points early in the season. Thats not really a positive especially as we were going at a much better rate under moyes last seasonNickNack wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 3:51 pm 10 actually, and of course it is. I think going forward we are in danager of not even standing still. Our form is awful, at least 2 below us will do significantly better next season and our record in the market continues to be shocking. Last season has gone. Lets see if we now have a platform to kick on

Re: David Moyes
Feel like im in the twilight zone.
I dont think we did well on transfer, we certainly didnt do well in the cups. We finished at best par in terms of points and position in the league. We ended the season the worst weve been under moyes in the last 18 months
What are the positives? We achieved nothing last season and for me we dont have much of a platform from last season to go into next. 4 points off europe means nothing really. Tell me the positives we take into next year

Re: David Moyes
Four points off europe is an improvement on previous seasons. I agree about the cups, jury is out on the transfers but it doesn’t mean some of them can’t still come good next season.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 4:10 pm Feel like im in the twilight zone.

What means nothing to me is points totals from previous seasons. I mean Arsenal who have just won the league this season won fuck all two seasons ago but finished with more points then. So have they gone backwards, remained stagnant or improved?
I expect a lot more next season but I don’t think it’s as bad as it’s made out by some on here. Maybe it will be but the constant doom and gloom is depressing as fuck. If we can’t be at least a little positive about a new season what’s the point?

You do realise you've just written 3 posts in a row that basically say the same thing right?777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Sat Jun 06, 2026 4:10 pm Feel like im in the twilight zone.

Re: David Moyes
Regardless of points and final position last season, we have improved, you’ve only got to look at the table to see from third down, it’s been a more competitive season all round, we were never at any point worried about a relegation scrap and only just missed out in Europe due to a shit end to the season. We’re in phase two now of the rebuild, I’m sure we’ll get the fullbacks situation sorted, hopefully find a buyer for Barry and replace him with someone more suited to the league. With a fit Grealish, Brainthwaite, new fullbacks and striker sorted we’ll be challenging top 7.
