Have to bear in mind, despite the position we finished last season, that the main aim by the owners was probably still to avoid any danger of relegation. What with the potential loss of home advantage for while due to new stadium and the initial drop-off in form that's been known to bring, plus the large amount of players who left in the summer causing squad overhaul.

It's also known that we missed out on/couldn't attract lot of our first choice transfer targets in that window.

The fact that relegation was never a worry this season will keep Moyes safe (as it prob should really). As said, the acid test will be next season - can we build from here now everything's in place?

Yeah some good points , players last season wouldn't come as we didn't have European footy. Same again , but the spectre of relegation still hung over us , you only have to remember ROHL had a relegation clause in it to see players/ agents weren't fully onboard ...

Let's hope we get our targets this time ....

I believe the Rohl clause wasn't as you described, it was more of a guarantee for the selling club that they would get their money. It was a loan with an obligation to buy and that was one of the triggers, they wanted that trigger as relegation wasn't that realistic, and so it proved.

Players will sign regardless if they buy into the ambition and style of football. Spurs finished 17th twice, don't have European football this season, yet by all accounts already have Senesi and Robertson in. They are still regarded as playing good football, with a progressive manager and are ambitious despite avoiding relegation on the last day, were meh with a meh manager

Poor if true but Antonio always comes across as a wanker to me, so who knows.

That’s dark isn’t it.

I mean, I presume it happened if he’s saying it, pretty vindictive thing to make up if it didn’t.

Maybe there's something I've missed here, but his father died at the end of March 2020, and due to Covid no Premier League games were played from 9th March until June....

Maybe a very late funeral...?

Why, what is he going to get from that? You could well be true, but it seems a bit of a strange thing to make up

Good post. I have accepted he will be here next season. I just won’t cope if he starts Keane, JOB at RB and doesn’t play the new hipster RB for six months because he’s not prem ready and one of his players.

Is Antonio on a book tour or something? Was digging out Potter the other day too.

It's poor management by Moyes though without question if true and it would be a pretty odd thing to make up.

Agree it seems a weird thing to make up. And I reckon it's something to do with context of the situation he's describing.

I read a couple of stories about when he crashed his car(s) and what he said and did to the people he nearly killed by his negligence, conversations he had with his family, and the 'stories' he went with. He had his wife or family member I think calling him out on the phone. Very strange.

He certainly wouldn't fit the 'no dickheads' policy, seemed an attention seeker devoid of empathy, and entirely irresponsible.

On that basis I wouldn't believe anything he said, not that I 100% would believe Moyes.
