I presume it gives him more flexibility and if he wants the 2nd year its his. If his levels drop and he fancies a payday in Saudi or America thats then an option instead. I'm sure he'll be calling the shots.

It's a good deal for both parties. We get to keep him for another year, so no real.panic to replace him, whilst he can decide during next season whether he wants to stay for a further year or grab one last bumper deal abroad.

With the level of recruitment already needed this Summer, it's great news that we don't have to rush out and find a Gana replacement too.

Fabrizio, 4 mins later than the Bobble, which is the time it takes him to copy a tweet.

Hopefully this now means we can crack on with signings.

This one probably dragged longer than expected.

Echo says the club were a bit unsure about offering him a 2 year deal at his age, but Moyes went strongly into bat for him.

How was a club that just resigned Michael Keane "unsure" about offering a second year to our best player last year?

Keane 32, got one year, Gana, 35 was also offered one year, what’s the problem there ? Logical you offer 1 year to a 35 year old in the first instance but if he/his agent insist on two and you feel the need to keep him, you go to two. Simples.
