He's absolute quality. Needs a season of Premier League football though. A loan to Coventry (albeit the thought of him in a Frank Lampard midfield is terrifying) would be good for him. Preston or someone like that does nothing for him, be better off training with better players for a year than walking the championship imo. They fell off a cliff when he left because he was their best player by a mile and he's a better player now.

Does need to be some succession planning though. Maybe Garner going in 12 months and he takes over?

He looked good and composed, but he'd be behind Rohl and Hackney for me, so ideally another loan but to a newly promoted team, or if it's the championship it'd have to be one of the top teams.

Maybe a loan abroad ala Branthwaite might be ideal even.

He's 19, get him signed into a 5 year contract and send him out on loan for another season. We've seen umpteen times over the years how we've damaged young players development because they're good enough to bulk up the squad but never going to start regularly other than when there's injuries and suspensions and Moyes isn't going to start him when everyone's available. Give him 40 games somewhere to get used to a long hard season and it'll be far more benefit in the long term than making some sub appearances out of position or starting our one league cup tie of the season.

We should keep him and make sure he gets minutes. Training with better players everyday as well as a decent chunk of playing time will be good for his development.

And if we have Gueye, Iroegbunam and maybe Alcaraz out, Hackney, Norgaard and Armstrong replacing them, its the same starting point in terms of numbers in the middle as last season, but a stronger group.

Rohl will be used to cover right back as well as the middle, so theres definitely room for Harrison. He needs to take Alcaraz's minutes, who we should sell.

If Norgaard plays tomorrow and comes out ok, I can see a Norgaard, Armstrong, KDH midfield 3 being favoured for Palace.

If we sell Tim, Norgaard isn't up to speed, Garner recovering from injury and question marks over Alcaraz all means Armstrong isn't going anywhere, and nor should he.

You've just said another thread that Patterson should have had a loan years ago, played 35 games a season and been atrociously mismanaged yet you want to do the same with Armstrong rather than loan him out. There's not a chance when everyone is fit that he's playing regular football, he's already wasted half of last season hardly playing, everyone knew that would happen and when he did play he was out of position most of the time.

May be one season too early to compete for regular minutes. A loan to a top league somewhere would be my preference.
