Awful news, it’s just shocking and terribly sad. RIP.

That's just sad, nothing else but infinitely sad.

Horrible, sad news. I hugged my kids a little tighter tonight.

He was a good player too. Floated through defences with ease. Sad news.
"Jota had that lightness about him, the kind of footballer who barely seems to leave a dent in the grass..." Ronay
Not that football seems important at all now.

Was certainly one of the more inoffensive liverpool players.
His last goal was a derby winner which essentially sealed the league for him which is a nice touch.
Have to admit, I was kind of glad to see him struggle with injuries as i always thought he had the potential to really turn into a great player.
Terribly sad news. Must be so difficult as a club to come to terms with this.

I have to say I'm finding the whole blanket coverage a bit disturbing but it's a reflection on the world we live in now. We don't need Sky and the BBC giving live updates for two days in a row and now all the media camped outside the funeral. They've died in tragic circumstances and Jota's story in particular is so sad, both professionally and personally he was probably the happiest he's ever been and living the ultimate dream but we don't need this level of coverage, it's getting towards papal or monarch levels of coverage. For me bereavement should be a private matter, let the family grieve in peace without the world's media watching them.

I agree. A lot of it is wildly overblown and performative.

Went a bit far when an Everton fan wore his Everton shirt to lay a wreath.

I was in two minds to post as being incentive but obviously the day it happened I thought am I the only one who thinks this has gone to far. Permanently on a loop and just new presenters showing the same (. No change there then for sky ) but did we really need blanket coverage , no other sport got a mention . It was sad . But I was thinking if Michael Antonio had died would he had got the same coverage.

I would never criticise any individual about how they deal with their own grief.
I will however criticise media businesses seeing it as an easy way to funnel clicks in and milk it for every last drop.
