Same, I was up at 5, set out the kids breakfasts, fed the animals, did my food prep, worked out stealthily without waking the house, and iplayer on by 6:45.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 06, 2026 8:57 am Just watched it, completely unspoiled (thankfully).
One of the greatest games of football you could ever hope to witness. Fantastic from both teams. Epic setting, epic atmosphere, epic game.
Also thought the referee had an incredible game, given how difficult it was and how much pressure was on him. Got every big decision right and kept a lid on a febrile game.
Wonderwall saw some mysterious water dripping from my chin beard, must have a leak in the bedroom above so plumber has been called.
Re: World Cup 2026
I have so much faith in tuchel.
I think everything he’s been working on has been planned for the later stage of this tournament and it proved last night.
Clear plan of slow the game down first 20, don’t concede then come out the blocks after the break.
The second half was pure chaos and all on the players to dig in and they did that brilliantly.
Now in a quarter final against Norway. As good as they are, this is a huge opportunity.
We are genuine contenders now we’ve got through that.
Kane, Rice and Bellingham all having huge tournaments as well.
Bellingham is phenomenal.

The maturity of Bellingham in that interview was as astounding as his performance on the pitch this morning.
Delighted to admit that I was wrong, and that he’s not just a player capable of big moments, he’s a player capable of being whatever he wants to be.

Re: World Cup 2026
Just seen highlights. Looked like a hell of a game. One of those nights that will live in fans memories for a long time. Some great performances all over the park.
And Jordan Henderson playing 4 minutes, getting a yellow and then being stretchered off sucking on a mask after falling over an advertising board might be the cherry on the cake.
I can see how the build up to Norway is going to go, but it’s a tough fixture, so hopefully England can keep the same level of intensity.

Big shoutout to Anthony Gordon, as well.
Stepped up against Congo and this morning in the Azteca.
And at least now he’s at Barcelona we can look forward to him fudging a penalty against us in a Champion’s League final in the near future.

Wow. What a match that was. Seriously impressed by that England performance, didn’t think they had it in them. Totally exhausting to watch it. Especially at 5am in the morning. Should have just stayed up to watch it as I couldnt sleep anyway
Made up for our mate in goal. Top performance. Thought Jude Bellingham was absolutely outstanding. Showed what an amazing player he is. Desire through the roof which makes him what he is, but also he doesn’t half have a ton of ability as well
Starting to believe

Re: World Cup 2026
I've just seen the video of Hendo getting injured.
From what I'd heard and read, it sounded like he had bravely abseiled down the side of the Azteca to rescue Jude from being attacked by cameramen.
It turns out he tried to hurdle a 2.5 foot advertising board, alone, and fell from that 2 and a half feet height, onto his arm and required oxygen as he was stretchered off the pitch. For a wrist injury. Hero.

Re: World Cup 2026
Felt last Euros that England needed a manager like Tuchel and they'd have won that competition.
Think I've forgotten that Tuchel in tournament football is always playing pretty rough football but he finds a way and that's been the case so far.
Norway, Argentina, France. Given the way Chelsea played against Man City in that Champions League final then England probably have as big a chance as anyone not called France.
