The 25-year-old impressed during his loan spell at Sunderland and is said to be keen on remaining in the Premier League. Everton scouts have reportedly monitored him extensively throughout the season, with David Moyes eager to strengthen the right-back position ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Geertruida's versatility, defensive quality, and strong passing ability make him an attractive option as Everton look to bring in a natural right-back rather than continuing to rely on Jake O'Brien in the role.

He’s off to the World Cup!

Had a little nosey around the Sunderland forum earlier and they seem to rate him highly, especially the last few games of the season.

I know my Sunderland supporting mate was a bit unenthusiastic about him, but maybe just took a while to settle.

They want him to stay but apparently his wages might be an issue as he'd be one of their highest earners and they already have 2 other players who can play RB.

Sounds like we could probably offer him a regular starting spot and wages Sunderland probably wouldn't match.

I’d usually go for a more balanced approach but I just can’t believe people think he’s premier league standard.

Just googled him, he looks about 60 in some pics, poor lad.

He’ll look about 70 after a few weeks of mopping up around the chuckle brothers at one end, and having a few life sapping interchanges with mcneezy up the other end, amirite!

Played all of last season at RM according to TransferMarkt, so looks like only an occasional RB as well.

Yeah, think he is more of a wingback, similar to Aznou, makes sense as that's how Atalanta largely play isn't it?

Couldn't see Moyes playing him in a back 4.

We’re definitely buying him then!

A wb who plays RW, got 9 assists for Torino then 7 assists for Atalanta…then 1 assist last year?

6 foot 1 and all his highlights are defending.

Sounds an odd one, don’t know enough about him to say if he’s good or not but at least we’re looking at RBs (kinda).
