I think theres still a chance he ends up here. They want 50m for him but that's just silly. I dont think anyone will even pay what they paid without seeing him on loan first

Loan

No one will pony up for Delap

Take him on loan, no obligation to buy, cover most of his wages and see of he can recreate his Ipswich form.

I have no interest in him if we’re playing football and not just twatting it into the channel for the forward to chase.

Barry will prove to be a much improved player with a midfield that can supply him into his feet and midfielders/wide players willing to run beyond him into the box.

£50m? Chelsea can go get fucked at that price. He's a fucking yard dog who looked OK in a poor Ipswich team, but is not even close to being good enough for a team with genuine aspirations of challenging the top half of rhe Premier League. He's been found out for the yard dog that he is at Chelsea.
He'd have probably done well in a late 80's Wimbledon style team, where the tactic was hoof it 80 yards upfield and hope your striker could either win the header or be a pain in the arse for the centre half.

Think we're being unfair on a you g lad that has simply bitten off more than he can chew with his career.

He'll smash it abroad and hopefully has his head screwed on enough to use his next move as an opportunity to learn and get better.

He can be a cracking player, but like all forwards - relies on the system behind him.

Barry is our No.1 now, but i wouldnt mind a loan for Delap and cashing in on Beto.

He's still got a decent chance of turning things around. His next move is a big one though as another flop and that will seem like his level.

My main thing I don't like about him is he just comes across a bit dumb at times. Stupid fouls too often and leaving something on players only works if you have the cover of playing for a top team. He did that so many times at Chelsea and only got the one red, had he played for us you know he'd have been off like 5 times for the same offences. You have to be a bit smarter these days when cameras catch almost everything. Be physical by all means, look at Madjo at Villa the other day against PSG was an absolute tank...he (Delap) just needs to be a lot smarter about it.

I’d be angry if we allowed them to make a profit on this.

Yes, he cost less than market value last summer but he’s also been a disaster.

Break even at best.

Not to mention they've inflated his wages, that must be taken into account when considering any transfer fee.

Surely nobody touches him and then he goes on loan last day

I’d be fine with that. Hopefully, with an option to buy less than £40m and closer to what they paid Ipswich.

Although my ideal here would be selling Beto and making a last minute swoop for Kofane. Our strike force would be properly exciting with Barry looking massively improved and a huge young talent from abroad. We’d score plenty of goals going 60’/30’ with those two.

Remember, we're talking about Davey here. So it will be more like 85'/5'
