Dwight McNeil
Re: Dwight McNeil
Yeah he's an ok prem player who's done well for us imo.
But if he went down a league he would be a Streets Won't Forget legend imo.
Re: Dwight McNeil
I hope he smashes it this season and Moyes unlocks another level.
But I think really he probably is who he is. He's alright. Would anyone above us want him? Will the manager be looking to replace him? He's alright, been a good signing, best of luck to him but I want better.

Re: Dwight McNeil
At his level at the moment.
Has the quality to step it up, but it’s the other stuff that might let him down.
Certainly a premier league player even if it’s near the bottom of the league.

Re: Dwight McNeil
If he becomes a squad player this season then we’d have had a very successful transfer window
Re: Dwight McNeil
But that's not what people were talking about though, his number of goals was being used as a stick to beat him with when actually he's a decent goal threat and scores bangers from distance.brap2 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 10:47 am No the issue is he literally can't do anything at all with his other foot so is a completely predictable uni directional player with limited ways you can use him.
Has put up good numbers for us tbh, hope over the next year or two he takes a step down to the champ where he would be a really really good player, a cult hero for someone I think. 10+ assists a year, 4-5 screamers.
Yes he's very one footed but it's a weird avenue to go down to criticise a player for scoring a reasonable number of goals just because none were with his weaker foot.
He's a decent player is Dwight, we'll need him this season in probably 3 different positions at points so let's hope he scores a few more with that left foot of his.

Re: Dwight McNeil
Why would he take a step down to the championship. He's been 1 of our better players. No clue why he'd want to half his wages to play at a lower level. Plus what the hell happens if he gets his championship side promoted or would he just have to pick a really shit team too
Re: Dwight McNeil
For the record, I was very much pointing out how absurd it was that his right foot/heading can be that bad that all his goals come from his left foot

He might even get 5 this year!AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 12:18 pm But that's not what people were talking about though, his number of goals was being used as a stick to beat him with when actually he's a decent goal threat and scores bangers from distance.

Bottom 2% of Europe for xg.
Goal or an assist every ~4 games.
He's OK and has done well! When we move forward he will move downwards.
Re: Dwight McNeil
Yeah he's not top 8 player, and we aren't a top 8 club... He's perfectly fine for now and I'd happily keep him as a squad player if we progressed to a level where were in and around those European places.
Re: Dwight McNeil
He's a very good player, he just isn't fast so people don't see how good he can be.
