How do you know thats what they are paying him?
You would assume 2.5 years wages is about 10m wouldn't you? I don't know but then you can argue that about anything.
I think we should sign mbappa this window. How do you know Madrid won't accept 50p and he wouldn't want to come for our relegation battle.
My point was more why would we pay him 5 times the going rate by giving him a 2.5 year contract when we intended to sack him in 6 months. Maybe we'll trick him and factor that in and get him to accept 20k a week. It seems unlikely though

He would never agree to a four month contract, too much pride for that and too much money in the bank to be that desperate.
I’m pretty certain he did that at West Ham.

Who's thinking is it to bring Moyes back?
We could have blamed Kenwright if he hadn't died but he's got a decent excuse for not being responsible now hasn't he.
Who in their right mind thinks he's right for the job?
Worse recent track record than Benitez but at least he knows the city

Got West Ham 6th and 7th placed finishes + a European trophy... How is that worse than Benitez?!

I despise the thought of Moyes coming back, but worse than Benitez ATM he isn't

Not doing cartwheels at the prospect if I’m honest. However if it’s 2.5 years and he’s here for much of that to stabilise the club and we back him financially to do as much, then it does make sense.
We are a fucking dumpster fire at present, so maybe this is the medicine.
Fuck it, he could quite possibly get us back in Europe in that time.

We have, but yet again we are desperate so just have to do what needs to be done.

I know this goes against the grain here and there is a bit of romanticism to it, but if it is to be Moyes, then I'd prefer to see him walk out at Bramley Moore Dock than the likes of Dyche or Mourinho!

His recent interview on Gary Neville’s thing did nothing to dispel this for me; he was all eye test, fuck analytics, proper football man bollocks.
Or am I being harsh and a bit negative?
Whether the input is qualitative (e.g. the eye test) or quantitative, it’s not a massive deal as long as the output is intentional and carefully considered.
Clough/Taylor could be considered analytical darlings for the way they identified players who had one or two warts that made them undervalued and then coached around/through those alleged defects but I doubt that they were using methods that we’d consider analytical today.
However he sees himself, Moyes is methodical and what he does generally has a clear purpose. It can sometimes be to his detriment, I’m sure I’m not the only one who remembers him persisting with a broken team for 2-3 matches to be certain it’s broken before adjusting (one of the reasons he’s not fit for a potential league winner like United). But largely it generates teams that are effective at nullifying the opposition and have a few effective ways of creating chances themselves. And then there’s his general excellence at identifying talent at other clubs and buying low to acquire it.
The eye test is still data, just a bit more prone to bias than things that are quantitative if you’re not careful. Moyes is analytical whether he sees himself that way or not. There’s a reason he’s had more longevity at clubs than the dinosaurs many would lump him in with.
Edit: Hope you had a laugh at the straggling “He’s anal” if you saw this before I caught my editing error.

I remember the 'Dithering Davey' nickname.
I remember the 'Make a change Moyes!' shouts.
I remember 'taking a knife to a gunfight'.
I remember the insulting offer for Baines and Fellaini.
I remember Bucharest.
I hated him by the end, and quite enjoyed his failure since. it's going to take a miracle to turn that around. I can't imagine I'm alone.

I’m liking this cos you’re right, but, under the circumstances I’d have him back, but hopefully just till the end of this season.

It's obvious - William Friedkin wrote the Exorcist
Dan Freidkin has got the old ouija board out and summoned up the ghost of Bill 'What would Everton Do?' Kenwright - He's gone 'Moooooooyyyyyyyeeeeesssss' in a ghostly drawl

Id describe it more like getting back with your misses who you were happily married to and then separated after she cheated on you 10 years ago, shes subsequently been hawked around the Village for the next 10 years, is now a bit haggered and well passed, but it'll do as your lonely and desperate!!
