The only player in Bundesliga history to surpass 37km/h since records began.
Roma were linked with him a few weeks ago, hopefully not one of those situations where the media confuse Roma’s representatives with ours again.
But can you not see why we haven't brought one in yet? The approach they're taking is to wait to see if they can get the first or second choice, who are seemingly still available (perhaps Doue or Munoz). If not, they move down the list to one that we could've got ages ago (Johnston, Norton-Cuffey, I imagine).Kerryblueboy wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 10:01 am Can they play right back you happy to start another season without one it’s absolutely disgraceful to be facing another season opener without one
Patience? Its not just this window. Its not just this yearAllyBlue14 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 10:43 am But can you not see why we haven't brought one in yet? No-one is happy that we don't have a right back in before the season and they're quite clearly trying to address the issue. But they're looking beyond the first match, hoping that waiting for the first choice will stand us in better stead for the other 37 matches and for seasons to come.
Sure, we may play the market and lose. Even then, I wouldn't necessarily put that down to incompetence or rifts between manager and the recruitment team; it's more just a case of where we are in the pecking order at the moment. But the impatience and lack of understanding is ridiculous.
Is it too unreasonable to ask why the recruitment team could not have got a good right back in at the start of the window?AllyBlue14 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 10:43 am But can you not see why we haven't brought one in yet? On a superficial level, that sounds eminently sensible.AllyBlue14 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 10:43 am But can you not see why we haven't brought one in yet? The really good players (if that’s who we’re competing for) are going to have options as to where they go and right now in the overall football pecking order we have to wait for others to do their business first. They may want European football or whatever as first choice and we can’t offer that currently. This is why for most teams it would be best for the transfer window to close before the start of the season.
If we wait it out and get a better level of player perhaps then you could argue it could be worth it. Obviously though we apparently tried a similar approach last summer and it didn’t work so patience and trust is thin on the ground, and we could again look very stupid for not getting in someone sooner even if maybe they were considered a lower down the list option.
It’s not a great situation clearly, nobody can really argue against that.

Can’t say I’m surprised.
Emery not at all keen on letting him go and why on earth would he give up Champions League football with Villa for us ?blueToffee wrote: ↑Wed Aug 19, 2026 11:22 am Alan Nixon has reported on his Patreon that Cash is the favoured option of Moyes, and could only cost £20million.
