Re: Dyche
This is why I miss the Euro’s so much… it was a joy to watch football without a care for the results
Re: Dyche
Barney Ronay pointed out that it was unfair for Dyche to blame DCL, as we are the only side in the prem now who look to actively concede possession, sit back in such a way, so it’s no wonder we concede so many chances, while other teams are able to put their foot on the ball, keep it and soak up pressure.
I am concerned how blaming the players will end up for morale.

Where did he blame DCL for the loss on Saturday?Juanito wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 6:49 am Barney Ronay pointed out that it was unfair for Dyche to blame DCL, as we are the only side in the prem now who look to actively concede possession, sit back in such a way, so it’s no wonder we concede so many chances, while other teams are able to put their foot on the ball, keep it and soak up pressure.

Re: Dyche
Nothing directly, although he inferred it was his fault:
"Every chance is capitalised by the opposition. At the end of the day they score a worldie, we have chance again but it hit the bar.
"Very frustrated for the players, it was not for a lack of effort.
"I have spoke endlessly about both boxes, the killer instinct in both boxes. There are very small margins and we cannot get on the right side of them at the moment.
"If we score that third goal the mood changes radically in the stadium. But, they get one and the mood changes.
"They scored a worldie to win it and we don't press as hard as we should, but they probably don't expect it.
"I didn't walk here blind I knew it was going to be a big challenge, it has been a bigger challenge than what i thought."

Re: Dyche
Seen loads of people say online that the football we are playing is throwback football 70s or 80s long ball low possession deep line it’s hard to watch but if you go ahead like we have last 2 games you can’t just sit back let good teams have the ball and expect to keep them out he needs to change it get Mangala into midfield instead of Tim get the Dane in for Harrison and drop Keane

We didn’t play a deep line and sit off though.Kerryblueboy wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 8:46 am Seen loads of people say online that the football we are playing is throwback football 70s or 80s long ball low possession deep line it’s hard to watch but if you go ahead like we have last 2 games you can’t just sit back let good teams have the ball and expect to keep them out he needs to change it get Mangala into midfield instead of Tim get the Dane in for Harrison and drop Keane
If people are seeing that in our play then they’re not taking notice of what’s actually happening on the pitch.
If anything, we are too high and too open.
Re: Dyche
Yeah I think people are conflating high line and the fact we win the ball high up with like a Liverpool style press, it's absolutely not like that.
We played a high line last year as well, obviously we had branthwaite and then sometimes Godfrey who are both able to turn and run while Tark Keane etc can't.
We start high, but we don't *really* engage. There's pressing from the forwards, and the ten, and these days Tim tends to run off looking for the ball as well, but it's not a press in the sense you'd see from Brighton, Liverpool, spurs - just spend 5 mins watching what it's like for a team to try and play through their forward and midfield lines compared to ours, it's night and day and it it's not just about quality. We aren't looking to really engage high. Pounce on mistakes (good) but as soon as the lines are broken we are retreating as far as possible and as fast as possible. Sadly for us this year nobody at the back can turn or run so we are behind the play and getting bagged on with simple crosses.
We're playing a high line which is fine, but we're not properly engaging teams, we're happy for them to have the ball all day. A high line does not = a high press, and I'd be willing to bet our PPDA would show that as it did last year.
We lack control with and without the ball this year which is a huge issue.
I am hopeful that Branthwaite brings a change in fortunes simply because he suits a high line while Keane and Tark absolutely don't, and we're desperate for some calmness on the ball. For the same reason I'm saying again - pull tim out. Way too sloppy on and off the ball, loses it constantly, he needs to come out the team unless we're at home against someone weak. We don't have a six but a combination from Gana garner Mangala and Doucs (deeper) should be able to cover space. Would love us to go 3 in the middle to start at least contesting the middle a bit more, you shouldn't concede that much of the ball to Tielemans and Barkley who are both super talented but absolute lazy bastards who if you put it on their toes will shit out the game. Instead we just let them play with the ball all day, same for Onana who set up the first goal before he went off.
He doesn't panic dyche but he does take a while to settle on a plan, i dunno what thinking has lead to this Keane and Tark high line, but I think it's basically, I have to change personnel or plan not both.

Would hardly call that singling out DCL as to blame ?Raptor wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 8:45 am Nothing directly, although he inferred it was his fault:

Re: Dyche
Think any manager comes out and says the same.
He’s right. Our mistakes are being pounced on, we’re not being clinical enough in the final 3rd.
Michael Keane actually played well but one mistake and it’s a goal at the moment.
I don’t think we kill the game going up 3-1 but it makes the task a lot more difficult for Villa.

Re: Dyche
Exactly. If anything people are now getting what they asked for. Only we don't have the players for it and we've lost our defensive stability because of it.
Re: Dyche
If we got anything out the game it would have been a smash and grab.TheRam wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 11:02 am Think any manager comes out and says the same.

Battered us.
Re: Dyche
I don’t think there was any other way of us getting a result there than a smash and grab performance.
We went 2-0 up, but made mistakes that cost us and didn’t take our chances when we got them.
