Re: Merlin Röhl
Moyes said him and Branthwaite are “back on the grass”, apparently, like cows coming off the naughty step

Re: Merlin Röhl
Looking back it's quite a strange signing this one when we've already got a bunch of CMs who are happier attacking than defending (Iroegbunam, KDH, Alcaraz). You'd think we would have been after a player who is happy to sit, I guess we went for Rohl just because they would let us pay next season
Re: Merlin Röhl
We were very keen on Palhinha but he didn't want to come. Probably just ended up buying someone we hoped could develop due to fairly high potential even though they didn't really fit what we needed... Kind of the general pattern of our recruitment of trying to get players who'd improve us now, them not wanting to join and use the signing high potential youth in the hope of flipping down the line for big profit.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Tue Dec 16, 2025 10:25 am Looking back it's quite a strange signing this one when we've already got a bunch of CMs who are happier attacking than defending (Iroegbunam, KDH, Alcaraz). He's also very versatile too having played in numerous positions previously, and we all know Moyes loves that kind of player.
Re: Merlin Röhl
He has the physical frame and attributes to fit the profile of what we need in front of the back four. Remains to be seen if he can be coached into it, like a Gravenberch, and more importantly if his body is up to it as he seems a bit fragile.
Re: Merlin Röhl
Reckon I'd buy or loan one of the many DMs I had on my extensive list rather than buy a random fella I think might be able to be a DM if I manage to groom him and train him and coach him into one with all the time and resource I have mid season.
Probably just got him because he was available on terms we could manage and who cares about position because we nearly only had 13 players anyway so if he can kick a ball he'll get a game.

Re: Merlin Röhl
I just hope we get to see what he is about. Nothing more frustrating than signings who hit the ground limping and exit through a side door 2 seasons later, with no one having a clue if they would have been any good.

Re: Merlin Röhl
Still not sure what he is. The only consistent thing about him is he consistently gets caught on the ball. Thinks he's still in Germany.
