Apart from 5 minutes with Lampard, McNeil's entire career has been spent under Sean Dyche. Looking forward to seeing what Moyes can get out of him.

Keep him as a squad player as we need numbers, I’m not a fan purely because of the lack of anything with his right foot, plays as a second option for LW or possibly, possibly LWB.

I reckon Moyes could get a good deal more value on the pitch out of McNeil.

I can only hear this voice when thinking of potential talks...

Wherever our thoughts may lie on the spectrum of how good our squad actually is, I think if we were to look at individual players, barring maybe 4 or 5 we'd probably look to move on from most of them.

But we need to keep some kind of squad together and build on it. This summer has to be about prioritising - identify/strengthen key areas where we either have barely any players or very poor options. Then, hopefully, as time goes on and we start to become more stable, we can start to become more selective in who we keep.

It’s all about improving the first 11 and having a better squad.

If we sell McNeil then you’re going to have to replace him and still have to sign another winger.

Just sign a good winger and have McNeil as a squad player who can play a number of positions.

Same with mykolenko. Personally don’t think there’s been much improvement there and would like to sell him but it’s fine if we don’t. He’s a good backup who could play that hybrid full back role as well if needed.

Keep these players around, release players like young, coleman, let Harrison and lindstrom go and look to improve the starting eleven whilst relegating players like McNeil, mykolenko, garner and Doucoure to squad players.

There's going to be enough turbulence this summer without selling the likes of McNeil. He's a good player, we should be aiming to recruit better (faster players) to be ahead of him but he's still an important first team player, and a versatile one.

AjaxAndy wrote: Wed Mar 05, 2025 10:13 am Would be happy with him as LWB, think he'd be fine there but not against every opposition, there's games we'd need a more solid one vs one defender like Mykolenko to fill that role.

If Branthwaite leaves in the summer I wonder if we could go Myko as LCB and McNeil as LWB but it's a bit of an unknown so probably not the best idea to build an entire season around it.
Completely on board with this. I'm actually excited to see McNeil at LWB, which probably says more about what I have endured over the last few years.

Interesting to see how Moyes uses him.

Would love to see him start matches between now and the end of the season.

I'm mainly just happy for him tbh, as it seems like he's had a horrible time in his life over recent times. Nice to see that big beaming smile back.
