What some of you are failing to grasp is that the later in the window he goes without a club, the better his bargaining power is with clubs that need/want him. Him not having a club already is not a negative for him, it's the exact opposite.
I'm gonna get a billion a week I've been available so long
That might work with some in demand great player. It's not going to work with someone no one is that arsed about apart from as cover. If he gets a good team he'll be on less than half what we were paying him. If he gets a bad side he'll still be on less money and will lose half when they are relegated

It's been common knowledge for most of the season that he'll be available in the summer and no one came in for him. No one's paying him big money for an injury prone, one in four striker who's had no pre season. It's highly unlikely he's going anywhere as their main striker, they'd have signed him by now to get him fit and ready.
There will be some come and go, 'well we need a striker but you need a job too' but any clubs will be in a better bargaining position than he will be, the longer it goes the less he can try and play one club off another, not that he appears to have any club to play off each other at the moment. It's supply and demand, and right now it doesn't look like there's a lot of demand for him.
Yea, I didn't say he'd get any of that... just that a move later in the window is typically better for free agents.
None of us know the offers he has (demand), whether he's playing the waiting game or has little options. But this snooty view adopted by some whenever a rumour of a potential suitor pops us is contrary to how we know free agents operate during transfer windows.

Vardy still without a club. Nothing unusual about free agents biding their time.
DCL is 28 though and should be in his absolute peak years as a player. Vardy is a full decade older and is just waiting for his legs to completely fall off.
With the way Newcastle's business is going of late, and the on and off rumours linking him I'd not totally rule out him heading there to sit on the bench in Wilson's place.
Kinda fascinated to see where he ends up. I have a hard time working out what sort of club would be in for him. Feels like a very wide range depending on whether they actually intend on playing him as first choice or just having him as a benchwarmer.
Sunderland made an ambitious play for former England striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
talkSPORT has been told the Black Cats were willing to offer Calvert-Lewin a move to the Stadium of Light after his release by Everton.
However, the 28-year-old is keen to keep his options open in the hope a club higher up the Premier League food chain comes in for him.
Calvert-Lewin's final season with the Toffees saw him score three goals in 26 league outings last term.
Curious to understand where he thinks he's going to get a better offer. Injury prone and not prolific, not exactly the profile that real top clubs tend to actively scout. Legend in his own head this guy. Or is he just looking for a really comfortable bench to sit on for the next few years?
I think I get him swerving the Sunderland move. He would be expected to play a lot of game time for them and the last few years suggest his body isn't up to that.
He is more likely to be a success somewhere where his starts will be more limited and he can be used for important minutes off the bench. He's also more likely to stay fit in a scenario like that and be surrounded by better players.
It might not come off but I think that would be my approach if j was him.
In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

Back-up strikers do fetch a lower wage though. I'd be surprised if he fetched a big club and a big wage.

With the way Newcastle are going then it wouldn't be a surprise if they sell Isak, sign his replacement in the limited time left and get DCL in at the end of the window.

The problem there is that he's absolute shite when he's not getting a run of games. He needs minutes on the pitch to get momentum, but he's nowhere near prolific enough to get those minutes at a top side. He's also far too injury prone to be relied upon as a first choice striker, so I think he's going to really struggle to command a.top wage at an elite.level club, where he's going to spend the majority of the time warming the bench and never going to gain enough momentum to make a.real impact on the pitch.

Howe loves an English player too - can definitely see him ending up there
