Offered nothing for three years then thought he could run his contract down if he wasn’t offered a big pay rise.

Did us out a swap for minteh last year because he overvalued himself.

Needs a knock back down to earth.
Says a huge amount about you that frankly we did not need to hear. Shocked and appalled.

Telegraph reporting Everton priced him out of that move btw.

Not arsed he ran his contract down, and also we weren't getting any fee for him 12 months ago. People were saying sell him for £30m at the time which was just full on mental.

Tried his hardest, got shit from fans and had to endure Dyche's use of him. Think he was fully entitled to want away after all that.

Says a lot about you if you’re shocked and appalled by that post unless you’re doing a bit?

You wouldn’t be arsed if it was said about a player you didn’t incessantly bat for.

Bit harsh saying I hope he fails, more that I don’t care and wouldn’t like to see him succeed elsewhere.

No matter where he ends up I think we can all agree what his greatest achievement in an Everton shirt was.

Or you could look at it another way.
Perhaps he could have showed the club a bit of loyalty after receiving £15 million in wages for the last 3 years while producing very little.
For what it's worth i wish him well wherever he ends up, i'm just glad he's not here anymore

I too wish him well while being pleased he’s gone. He worked hard for us for the most part and was unlucky a lot

My biggest thought on it though is that he was mad not to take our deal, assuming it was on same terms as, due to his injury record (which I think he’s aware of), getting a better deal was always a huge risk
Either he was desperate for a new start or he was utterly delusional, the former is fair enough and the latter speaks for itself. I wonder whether we will ever know which it was.

The original offer was a payrise. We pulled that half way through last season. I assume he backed himself to get a fresh start at a better team on similar money. Financially it appears like he's gonna lose out quite significantly

Yeah, i don't know if it was this thread or another that i posted on, but a month or two before the season ended i said he needed to think long and hard about what he wanted because he was painting himself into a corner.
He may still get the deal he's looking for, who knows?
It's just so hard to see it happening with his track record.

I can't blame anyone with a short career that's spent a good chunk of it having to endure our shit show for finding a way out.

None of us know why he rejected that contract, imo it feels more like he wanted a fresh start than wanting more money. After all of he'd wanted more money he'd have taken the supposed pay rise we offered.

Been tough for him here with the injuries and fans turning on him. Probably just wants somewhere new without all that baggage.

If he goes to another prem team then I want him to fail badly purely because they’re our rivals. I wish him well personally though
