Would love to see him in the ten for a few games.

He’s a good dribbler in any direction rather than like a push and run merchant. Wanna see him twisting people up and passing into the box or leathering shots.

I suppose the problem is our ten needs to be able to head the ball and lay it off etc. More likely to see Merlin there I suppose.

TBH I just don’t think he’s a winger…and he obviously doesn’t like playing out there…second half yesterday he drifted inside more than being out on the wing….therefore leaving space out behind him…hence branthwaite giving him a right mouthful for not getting back….

Didnt want to buy him, said it was a risk....but for some reason I think he's going to have a break out season and draw comparisons to Bale.

Oh and Jarrad will be drawing comparisons to Der Kaiser

And Garner Valverde.

I don't know about this. There's a difference between the role and the position on the field. You can still be a wide player but cut inside. Plenty of examples of that in modern football. Inverted wingers or inside forwards. Doesn't mean he doesn't like to start outside or is playing out of position. He's not a traditional touchline hugging winger that is going to hit the by line and cross a ball in, but that's fine, there aren't as many of those nowadays, I'd argue its more typical for the fullback to do that now. What it does highlight, if there's acres of space when he cuts inside, is a lack of a team balance and good attacking right sided player behind him. I'm fine with him coming inside as long as theres an overlap option otherwise it's just too easy for a defence to swarm him and overcrowd the middle without an outlet.

He's more in the mould of a Cole Palmer than say a Saka. Languid running style, little body sways to unbalance defenders. Looking to be more of a creative wide player than bursting past a man and shooting.

There's room for that kind of player on the flank, if the team around him functions well. Ideally you'd want a speedster getting in behind on the other side. An alternative is to have a flying right back bombing past him, and an athletic no. 8 underlapping him and crashing into the box. Armstong did that a couple of times for him yesterday and it looked promising.

Its the driving stength and ball carrying that you see glimpses off, its a reach, I get it... given he did fuck all last season.
