There is no restriction on length of contract. The loophole that was closed was amortising the asset over the full length of contract if overb5 years. They can still offer 8, 9 10 year, even lifetime contracts if they wish, but they have to pay the full transfer fee within 5 years.

Rumour of Spurs bidding 85 mil for Bournemouth’s Kroupi. They’ll probably hold out for 100 mil at current market rates.
Spurs outspending everyone at the moment if this sort of thing goes through.
just like lpool and watch em flop

Their transfer policy looks really sound this season, sell established players for massive fees and buy lots of under 21s with high potential and ability to contribute now, at least some of them anyway.
Shows how buying and selling well then allows you to spend on the kind of young talent we want here really, but can't afford the fees because we don't have many players we can sell for profit, let alone £40m-£50m profit.

It's disappointing that some clubs have to act like trading houses, speculators or resellers (maybe our new sponsors CMC markets can give us an edge?

)
Yet for some they're either never in the space to be able to make multi million pound gambles, or at the other end of the spectrum, where money is of no concern at all.
Found this funny when researching one CMC product offering, Spread Betting - "Unlike traditional investing where the maximum loss is limited to the amount invested, spread betting carries the risk of losing more than the original Stake"

Why is ‘Stake’ capitalised?
