No way?!! 🤨

So you think we're going to be spending money this window to strengthen right? Yeah highly unlikely.

Which leaves one window, so if you think we're going to be significantly strong enough to cope with Europe and the league I'm going to give you a clue as to who is the dipshit... and it ain't me.

You just take European qualification whenever you can get it. There is no right or wrong time to do things. You get it and then you have a new set of challenges which you try to negotiate as well as possible, and you judge the management on how they handle that.

Doesn't make sense to think we have money to spend and then just be like 'nah we'll not bother buying full backs, let's keep that money until halfway through the season'.

It's not about being a know it all, it's about common sense.

Yes would obviously be delighted if we finished that high up or won the FA Cup... It's what footy is all about at the end of the day.

Just saying I think if it happened a year later instead we'd be on a better position to manage the extra games. Long term more beneficial, but you can't say no to Europe now obviously as you don't know when you might next actually achieve it.

Right, with limits on what we can spend, dead easy!

All we have to do is find a striker who can score, a 6, a 10 or a winger good enough to let ndiaye/grealish play there, a right back, and a left back and thats just the first 11.

Then we need cover for half of those and some others not mentioned.

Dead easy, you fucking spud.

You do realise bringing Dyche in to something totally unrelated weakens your point not strengthens it right?

Look we have moved on we are gone from the doom and gloom which might not suit some but anyone who calls themselves an Everton supporter that doesn’t want to see them in Europe i would question why after what we have seen the last 10 years

Angus Kinnear:

Across January, the Sky Sports transfer window ticker will countdown in milliseconds in an attempt to whip up a trading frenzy amongst their viewers, but all our experience demonstrates how challenging the winter market is to deliver quality and value. We will work towards identifying and executing opportunities that will make us stronger in the long term. But these opportunities will need to be exceptional, and we will avoid short-term fixes that will weaken our hand for phase two of our rebuild next summer.

I guess reading is hard, so I'll help.

At no point did I or anyone say we didnt want to be back in Europe. We all want to be back, but the timing is the problem.

What they did say, is that next season is probably too soon and I share their concerns. Based on the state of our squad, and how much we can realistically invest and improve between now and and then, adding another competition could do more harm than good.

It's precisely because of the last 10 years that I'd want us to be more stable, and have a bigger, stronger squad before we add even more games into the mix.

It's like you've forgotten how we got to this point....surely any true everton fan blah blah blah.

I totally get what you’re saying here. It could be a stretch that breaks us. Sets us back for some time.

But that’s only one possibility. What about the other? That European competition helps us to attract a higher level of talent, that we get at least some of the recruitment right - enough to build on, and that the competition brings in more revenue and tv money.

It could go either way. No one’s right or wrong here, some are just ready to roll the dice and ride the rollercoaster, whatever the ups and downs.

And next season we’re gonna be worried about winning the league and all the domestic cups too.
