Had some absolutely rotten managers on elite money. Add koeman to the list. Apparently made him 1 of the highest paid managers in the world on the back of a dof work at Southampton. He couldn't even be arsed

Honestly we had a prolonged period where we pretty much got everything wrong. Managers, players, dof, board members all poor choices.

Surviving financially and as a top flight club was a pure fluke

Anyone that uses the annoying "Everton that" line should just look back at the last 10 years or even longer. We should have been toast, relegated long ago, maybe even down to League One the way our finances have been dealt with over the years. It's an absolute miracle that we survived. We can go on about our bad luck and every one giving it "poor us" but when you look at our time during the whole Premier League era, we might not have won anything but we're one of the luckiest clubs out there. Relegation in 90's or in the last few years would have been a disaster for us yet somehow despite everything we've managed to stay in the league.

And now we've somehow managed to move into a world class stadium, we should stop feeling sorry for ourselves all the time, no one else does.

I have very little doubt that if we'd gone down in Lampard's last season or Dyche's full season we'd have had back to back relegations.

Our finances and the wages of players with no relegation clauses meant we'd have been docked points in the championship, who have a lower threshold for going over PSR, and also would have still needed to get those players off the books somehow leaving us with a shocking team and no way of buying anyone.

Can't be underestimated how much of a financial black hole relegation would have left us in.

It's definitely a miracle we survived and I'm still not totally sure how we did... Just thankful we're now able to look forward to a brighter future.
