We can't progress as a club holding on to players when the well run clubs above us constantly buy low and sell high to continue their builds.
Holding on to players through sentiment just leaves us without a pot to piss in every window, and a stagnation of any ambition we might hold to progress as a club.
Obviously there's not a lot of faith in the transfer committee and Moyes, which I fully understand. It doesn't mean we shouldn't maximise every opportunity to improve our CSR position and continue to try utilise the model other clubs have been successful with.

Everyone has a price but selling your prized assets all at the same time, losing Gana and not having a coherent way of managing incomings is risky even by our shambolic standards. We agree on where we need to get to but it might take a bit longer.

Yeah if I was solely driven by money so would I. But I’d rather have less money in my bank account and a PL medal and/or CL medal in my collection than more money and a trophy that has less worth than a ‘Win a goldfish at the local fair.’ Maybe I’m a romantic - but in any sport no one remembers you for the money you have in the bank. They look at your honours board. That’s just me though.
A lot of the top Senegal national team players have gone over to Saudi. Mendy, Koulibaly, Mane, Gana, and now possibly Illi. It’s nothing new and you can’t blame them.
The difference between £100k a week gross and £400k a week net is enormous. It’s real generational wealth and for a lot of them, they use the proceeds to invest money back into their home towns / villages. Mane and Koulibaly have done just that. I think it’s a big reason why they are attracted to Saudi.

I also think people are a bit disrespectful to the Saudi league. I'll admit I haven't watched lots, and the depth or history clearly isn't there, but Al Hilal would piss all over us from what I have seen
It's still and emerging entity, but they will get exposure in some competitions and it will grow for sure, but there are some really talented teams and individuals in that league

Dont they have to play 5 or 6 saudi players?? Every team in that league would finish bottom in England
