Re watching it and his finish for the equaliser is genuinely quite excellent.
Has to react very quickly against one of the best keepers in the world and does it well.

Whilst true, let's not pretend that the expected outcome there isn't a goal.
You'd be furious if he missed that, deffo in the "sitter" category.
But, being in the right place at the right time is absolutely an asset for a striker.

His finishing is not in doubt. In a more dominant team he could be accommodated just for his ability in front of goal.
Worth keeping but we need a more physical striker as well.

In Barry's own words -
He said: “It’s always a privilege to play against the big teams, like Man City. I’m very happy to come on and score two goals. We drew, so we need to keep pushing.
"We have just three games now, so we need to take more points. He (David Moyes) didn’t talk to me too much before (I came on), but in training, him and me worked on finishing.
“He said to me: 'You need to score two or three goals before the end of the season'. I scored two today, so I’m happy. I got the opportunity, and I took it.
"When I was on the bench, the tactics of City, and I saw if you press high with intensity, you can win more balls in the counter-attack. I think it’s a weakness of City in the counter-attack, so we did this well.”

Definitely worth another season. Given his shakey start, his xg shot conversion etc is good and he can score with both feet, good in the air for flick-ons too. Work hard, bulk up all summer.
When you look at Beto and Barry together 16 goals given they rarely share the pitch isn't a bad return for a job sharing striker pair. Hope we see an upgrade in summer but there is sell on value if/when we want to sell on.

He didn't just let Guehi have all the time and space he wanted, and was there to capitalise on a short backpass, so yeah.
More generally though it gives the picture of a more thoughtful footballer than some people allow for, watching the game on the bench and seeing possible weaknesses in the opposition and how he can impact the game if/when he gets on.
When people decide someone is their new boo boy, they tend to remove agency and nuance from that person's actions and just see them as a one dimensional object of distaste. It was nice to hear his thoughts.

Plus he didn’t just kick their defenders Beto was lucky he didn’t get sent off two very late tackles

Was a really good cameo from the lad, now im over the disappointment of the late goal.
Gives him something to build on and a way back with the fans.
