Bit different though he wasn't 28 and in football ability terms will have peaked.Paddockoldie wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2026 7:41 am I can't remember many of us thinking, this Coleman kid from Ireland is what we need at RB.

I think this is it for me.sam of the south wrote: ↑Mon Aug 03, 2026 9:39 pm I’d much rather take a punt on Norton-Cuffy, and I think most of the transfer committee would too
We have gone from a younger prospect who has played at a decent level to an older option who has played at a lower level. For the same money.
Re: Alistair Johnston
They're not comparable, he was an unknown 21 year old that we took a £60k punt on.Paddockoldie wrote: ↑Tue Aug 04, 2026 7:41 am I can't remember many of us thinking, this Coleman kid from Ireland is what we need at RB.

Re: Alistair Johnston
I watched last night. Looked functional and used to playing the position. Pretty much all you could hope for from a 28 year old playing in the SPL.
Doubt many people who didn't know who he was last week would have seen him yesterday and thought 'search over'.

Re: Alistair Johnston
He looked pretty mobile making runs for other players. But don't worry we'll knock that out of him.
Re: Alistair Johnston
Every time I see his name I think he's chief exec of some boring utility company - far too sensible a name for a footballer.
Re: Alistair Johnston
Looks a bit like the lad from the meme where he’s making his veins pop out on his head
Re: Alistair Johnston
Looks a bit like this dude, if he was to be a cartoon version.

Re: Alistair Johnston
Every time I watch Scottish football I can't help but notice how much space attacking players have relative to the Prem.
I doubt a 27 year old who has only played in MLS and SPL would be able to adapt to PL.

Re: Alistair Johnston
I firmly believe that if we don’t sign him we’re not signing a RB and we’ll be lamenting JOB at RB come September.
Re: Alistair Johnston
That explains a lot*
*It doesn't; I just couldn't pass up the chance of hurling such an ambiguous insult
