Well yeah he's out of contract at the end of next season isn't he? So of course we'd have the option to sign him permanently at the end of another loan surely.
When we signed Gareth Barry he was out of contract at the end of his loan but I think we still ended up paying city a fee for him.

Yeah that was unusual and I'd be surprised if we did the same again here... Maybe there's something in the deal though that allows us to loan him without a fee providing we pay x amount at the end. I'd hope not though, wouldn't be a particularly good way to go about things.

That's how we sold Maupay to Marseille, loan with an obligation to buy. He was out of contact at the end of the loan too, but I think we got 4m?

Wouldn't mind a right back

Why not both (LB & RB)?

One of the most important elements of this to me is that it appears we are getting stuff done early - having an agreement in place in April allows us to move onto other targets (full backs have to be the priority surely to fucking God) and not spend the entire summer chasing signings that don’t want to come here

Get this boxed off now, move on. Simples

And the signal it sends out to other potential signings.

I think if we are keeping him then we absolutely must get the correct left back to play behind him.

I think just a pretty decent normal right back will be such an improvement that specifically who we get isn't hugely important, but to get the best out of Grealish the LB must be pacy and a threat on the overlap.

I might be asking too much for a Baines MKII, but in reality that kind of skill set is essential to unlock Grealish or take advantage of the space he creates.

Unless we play him in the middle.

Could see us doing that. We’re allergic to fullbacks!

I've been conditioned to think we're shite for so long that I'm struggling to fully accept how good we could be with a pair of full backs that were even 6 out of 10s
