I mean it might be correct tbf, but also probably not. One thing is for certain though, that that writer knows exactly how to appeal to the doomsday mentality a lot on here have, so credit to them for knowing their audience!

This is the massive disconnect, if you look at a lot of the clubs that are spending loads its due to their investment in youth. Chelsea and Villa are basically manipulating all the laws to enable outrages spending sprees, and they can do it. Chelsea are flipping loads of kids for huge money, we'd be lucky to get about 20p for some of our under 21s. Spurs just sold Lankshear to Middlesborough for a deal that could rise to 20m - id never even heard of him, its a huge market we are missing out on

Trading players, like with did with Dobbin and Tim enables some of this spending. What Moyes wants to do is lumber us with a load of 28+ players that prevent this type of trading. its more and more evidence that he isnt the man to take us forward (he never was, but its even more evident now!!)

There was never going to be much going on this window until after the World Cup - even the potential moves of players who weren't at the WC are affected by the potential moves of the players that were.

Obvs the silly money moves by the rich clubs aren't so affected, as they are bespoke buying with only limited competition from other clubs willing/able to lump over a £100 mil on the likes of Anderson and Rogers.

Hackney was gettable quickly because not at WC, near end of contract and buying from a championship club not really affected by WC, plus favouring us over the competition we did have. Even that took a few weeks like...

If you don't have a lot of cash, you are more exposed to the ebb and flow of the market. Esp as buying anybody who's not old and ready to go into the first team of a mid-table prem side still doesn't come cheap.

Its silly money moves, but its not necessarily by rich clubs, its by intelligent clubs that manipulate the system we just need to get into that way of working that enable you to spend money as you want. Losing players like Branthwaite and Ndiaye should be seen as a mechanism for taking the next step, not necessarily a negative, we need to keep a high level of turnover of talent to grow.

Brighton, Bournemouth and Palace have all signed full backs for less than €20m.

That said, without comparing ourselves to anyone else - it’s not good enough so far is a fact. Maybe things will change but all we can go off is the noise and right now the noise isn’t great.

Makes the two summer plan so good - this is the plan? That we will wait for the end of window two to hopefully get a faded star off the back of a season ending injury and maybe a right back but we don’t know who. Best case scenario we do spurs a favour and help them bin off their 26* year old RB at a profit.

Newcastle are selling their prize assets and replacing them with young players with high ceilings they have a coach who will play them and give them time I definitely feel there is major friction between Moyes and the board over the type of players we are bringing in

I don't think we'll sign a RB. We've been here before and the vibes are all wrong. It happened last year where they thought they had Tete done with early doors, he didn't sign and then they just decided to wait and low and behold nothing was available at the end of the season.

Seem to be the plan again this season is to wait and it'll fail again. Players are rarely cheaper at the end of the window, so they're basically holding out for better RBs to have fewer options at the end of the season but still want to move.

O'Brien and Mykolenko at fullback all season again.

If the window closes and we haven’t signed a right back, with the club full well knowing that Seamus was leaving months ago, alongside Moyes hatred of Patterson, then someone senior needs to be sacked.

Whether that is someone in the management team or Moyes. It’s just not acceptable at the highest level.

They should have a list of well over 50 right backs gathered over the year, and should have been ready to make offers in early June when the window opened. We are now nearly in August and still no right back. It’s insane that we are having this conversation years down the line from when we first needed a RB.

Even if this club had £1bn to spend, I wouldn’t trust them with it
