The neutrals' reaction seems to be that Branthwaite was the surprise omission. It's normally some forward, but loads of non Everton fans are calling out him being left out as a surprise. If anything it probably raises his profile a bit more, than if he slipped in as 4th choice cb and got nowhere near the pitch.

Yeah but look at the competition Pickford has. He’s heads, shoulders, knees and toes above the rest.

Can’t make much heads or tails out of some of Tuchel’s selection.

Bringing a 32yo who won’t start for his first cap feels more like charity than anything else.

Think your comment is very charitable in itself.
Could've gone harder.

To be honest, it pisses me off players getting injured playing international football full stop (I don't watch it) but if an established PL player got injured playing in age group rubbish like that, I'd be devastated.
In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

I only saw the first half, but didn’t close down his man to stop him crossing it for their first goal and did a shocking back pass that lead to them dispossessing the keeper but then luckily only hitting the post.

He’s actually had a pretty poor season, tbh. Well, sub par.

He's just been a bit inconsistent this year. As you'd expect really from any outstanding player his age. It would be strange if he was completely flawless.

Yeah, much as I like him he's been a bit mixed this season. Dan Burn getting an England call up was a surprise but Branthwaite being left out wasn't for me.

If he goes let's get a good price but not to the shite. Not worth getting attached to players these days.
