My missus went on a rant about that and then restaurants using it instead of showing photos of their actual food....she wasn't even watching the match and was only in the room for a few minutes

GOAT this, GOAT that.
It's a bit simple.
And unfortunately not limited to football.

Contributions on public discussion boards that start ...."Liverpool fan here.... I come in peace"... before proceeding to say something sycophantic, just for likes.
Re: Football Pet Hates
Pundits etc when they describe football as a war…..” in the heat of battle” “they played like warriors” ffs…..
Their actual talking about professional elite pampered well paid athletes…who actually go to ground screaming holding their faces if someone shouts to loud next to them ,,,,

I don't mind commentators pronouncing players names as they're intended.
It's the inconsistency with country names that winds me up. Cote D'Ivoire and Cabo Verde but not Deutschland or Nippon

Re: Football Pet Hates
God if you knew how foreign players names should be pronounced you'd never get through a single game of football without punching the TV. I reckon commentators pronounce about 10% right.
Re: Football Pet Hates
The funny thing is that at the start of the season, the premier league gets the player to pronounce their name in front of the camera so that the commentators get it right.
