Bash that fee under £20m with an eye on him playing central midfield and not right back and I’m in on Lewis. Otherwise, I’m out.

Until our aspirations get bigger, I do think we could make a solid living off City’s castoffs for a bit. Academy grads they don’t want, English veterans like Grealish, Stones, etc. They don’t even have to move!

If John Stones wasn't injury prone we should be all in for him, but he's not so we shouldn't be as good as he is.

I think Moyes can manage his fitness. Especially since we’re relatively deep at that position.

I’ve talked myself into this one big time. Would be happy if we could make it work. Far from top priority though.

Already failed not having a full back in for the first pre season game.

Hes a great player, him and Branthwaite together i mean wow, but both are prone and I worry all that happens is we still get 20 games of Keane and Tarkowski.

Yep fucking stupid, dont care who we are after the biggest glaring hole in the squad should be sorted for the pre season, I reckon every othe position gets time to bed in, right back needs to be settled by game 1

I can see us playing silly bugger brinksmanship with the right back position, missing out on our main target and then signing a shit stop back who costs too much and isn't good enough.

Is that better or worse than last year which saw us us playing silly bugger brinksmanship with the right back position, missing out on our main target and then just doing absolutely fucking nothing.

I'd be shocked if they played 10 games together all season.

*Brainthwaite and hypothetical Stones

Where's does that leave Jake though (assuming we sign an RB)?

He's 24, played 18 months out of position and seems to be potentially a fantastic CB who would fantastically compliment Branthwaite should he be able to stay fit.

I'd not be in to us signing anyone who will push him down the pecking order further than he is currently. We've given him the first part of the Lescott treatment, now it's time for the second part.

Could be our CB for the next decade, just need play him instead of giving his minutes to an ageing perma crocked Stones.

Be interesting to see if Moyes plays Jake at Centre Half over Keane if we have a RB.

You'd hope he would, but I also expect a Tarks / Branthwaite first choice pairing if everyone is fit.

I think Jake's a very good CB who could easily go on to be a top drawer premier league player though, so I really want to see him given the opportunity to reach that potential.
